Hebrew Book Of Mormon

The RLDS Church has a full translation of The BOM in Hebrew and is a WHOLE lot cheaper. If you are looking for a hard copy of a Hebrew BOM, this may be the cheapest way of getting a hold of one.

The RLDS translation might be cheaper, but it is even worse than the LDS translation.

Where can the RLDS translation be found?

ETA: I actually found this link. However, it isn't the RLDS church that is putting it out. It is the Restoration Bookstore that unofficially represents the Restoration Branches.

So you would agree that the reason for the pulling of the Hebrew edition was at least in part due to problems with the translation? (I don't remember any one familiar with Hebrew liking it.)

If only that were the reason. It has to do with the BYU non-proselyting agreement.

Not to be blunt, but that is nonsense. Proselyting, yes, contacts, not at all.

Did you actually read what I posted? To forbid proselyting IS a form of **restricting contact**. And direct proselyting is not the only restriction.

You are really getting tiresome.

If you cannot be civil you will be removed.

It might be a form of restricting contact, but it is a far cry from being strictly limited. I find it utterly presumptious of you to make such statements as I am an Israeli member of the church. I grew up there. I went to school there. I served in the army there. I worked there. My friends, my neighbours, and my in-laws are Israeli. The local members of the church are exceptionally integrated into Israeli life and society. It is our country, our society, our culture.

Oh how you make me wish I were born there and partially Jewish. If Christianity doesn't work out for me then I'm going Jewish.

One more thing...my birthday is coming up soon (Fall). I would very much love everyone from the board to pitch in and buy this for me.

ETA: Or this...its a little cheaper.

No problem.

I will gladly pay for the shipping. ;)

Good to know.

While not in "textbook" print, this is pretty much what you seek.

http://en.fairmormon...apter_and_verse

I've included their material in my Gospel Doctrines lessons from last year. It's great stuff they pulled together there. And I do believe Dr. Peterson and others were behind ctreating it.

Actually, myself and one other FAIR volunteer were principally behind the collection and arrangement of the index you have linked to.

I'm glad that you found it helpful. Any suggestions or feedback on it would be greatly appreciated.

For those interested, we could use some help with people reading through the articles and identifying all the places in the Book of Mormon they think it fits under. (Most of them were assigned a reference or two after very briefly skimming the articles.)

We are also finding it is hard to keep up to date. There are already multiple articles that have recently come out which we have not yet added.

I found this pdf file online of the Book of Mormon in Hebrew. What is the consensus on this edition and why is it no longer published?

For what it is worth to people, Donald Perry (Hebrew professor at BYU) does not recommend using this edition. Apparently, the translation is poor in many places.

That makes perfect sense, actually. But I imagine to myself that the Church has probably readied a complete and accurate translation into Hebrew and it is ready for quick printing in preparation for when the time comes that it is permitted to distribute.

I wish it were so. Unfortunately, there isn't anything even remotely near that. The state of Hebrew materials is abysmal. The only good translations we have are of some of the priesthood ordinances. Also, it technically is permissible already, especially if it is only for internal use by members of the church. If anything, the non-proselyting agreement and all that goes with it trespasses on on our rights as citizens by Israeli law, but we abide by the agreement out of loyalty to the church.

I've never had any instructions from the church limiting my contact with Israelis

Yeah, like I said, I am Israeli, my brother-in-law is Israeli, my neighbours are Israeli, just like my schools, army service, and work were. Had Israeli friends, only limitations we ever heard were that we couldn't proselyte and couldn't bring them to church meetings.

I was insinuating an accurate translation into Hebrew that the Church has prepared but not published or made public, and that it keeps confidential so as not to give the appearance of violating any agreements with the Israeli government. By definition you would not know of it. I was merely speculating that it might exist.

Much in the way, perhaps, that the State of Israeli has prepared all the materials for rebuilding the Temple on the site of the Dome of the Rock, in prefabricated form. So that if God should cause the DotR to fall off the Temple Mount, that they'd be able to put it up quickly in expectation of the Messiah's imminent arrival. Which better be pretty soon thereafter because the you-know-what would hit the fan pretty quickly.

Yeah, like I said, I am Israeli!

Oh no! Does this mean we shouldn't be talking about the Church with you!

Even worse, can I talk with myself?

Obviously not! Oh, my. Are YOU ever in trouble! lol
