Stone holm Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I think the next major one will be the false prophet of Revelation 19:20.JimWow, always looking on the downside. So what will the Holy Ghost's name be when the Holy Ghost ceases to be a personage of spirit?
theplains Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 So what will the Holy Ghost's name be when the Holy Ghost ceases to be a personage of spirit? Please provide a scriptural reference so that I can try to understand the context foryour question. Thanks,Jim
theplains Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Well.. assuming the related common interpretations hold.. do you think he comes around first -- or do you think the two who die preceded him in arriving on the scene and only become important in the narrative because of what happens to them?I'm a little confused about Revelation 11:7. Is the beast coming out of the bottomless pitthe same beast who comes out of the sea and is cast into the bottomless pit. Not sure.Jim
Stone holm Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Please provide a scriptural reference so that I can try to understand the context foryour question. Thanks,JimI know of no Scriptural reference describing the coming of the Holy Ghost, I do assume that the Holy Ghost at some point gains a body. Do you believe otherwise?
theplains Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I know of no Scriptural reference describing the coming of the Holy Ghost, I do assume that the Holy Ghost at some point gains a body. Do you believe otherwise?According to what I read in LDS manuals, the Holy Spirit has a spirit body and all spirit is matter. What kind of body do you think he needs to gain?Jim
CASteinman Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 What kind of body do you think he needs to gain?An immortal physical body of flesh and bones -- as with all fully exalted beings.

brightpath Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Cas, The broken off branch are the Gentiles? What church have you been going to? I guess you haven't been paying attention in Sunday school. The broken off branch that came to America was Lehi seed(Israel). How can anyone have a conversation with you when you make such an ignorant statement. Reread the BofM please.
brightpath Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 2 Nephi 3:24 is very clear! Lehi is reviewing the prophecy to his son Joseph. Lehi said one will rise mughty out of their seed(Lamanite). 2 Nephi 3 is not talking about JS. This person will not die and will lead Israel unto salvation. Read this chapter and the JST Gen 50:24-38.
MormonMason Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 2 Nephi 3:24 is debatable and may possibly refer to a prophet aside from Joseph Smith. The prior verses are not actually debatable. The context of the prior verses is Joseph Smith and his relation to the details in bringing forth the Book of Mormon. Those verses are very clear in light of the actual history of the events. The choice seer of the previous verses to 24 is Joseph Smith. 1
Vance Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 This person will not die . . . That is NOT what it says. You are reading your own ideas INTO the verse rather than let the verse speak for itself. 1
Vance Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 2 Nephi 3:24 is very clear! Lehi is reviewing the prophecy to his son Joseph. Lehi said one will rise mughty out of their seed(Lamanite). Nope!! It is not limited to the seed of Lehi but rather to the seed of Joseph of old, of which Joseph Smith Jr. is a member. 2 Nephi 3 is not talking about JS.This, you have not shown. JS fits ALL of the requirements, despite your protestations.
Vance Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 "and unto the seed of thy brethren" seems to indicate that this prophet is NOT of the seed of Lehi.
CASteinman Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Cas, The broken off branch are the Gentiles? What church have you been going to? I guess you haven't been paying attention in Sunday school. MormonMason Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Your arrogance is amusing. But it doesn't make you smart. And, one could ask the very question regarding not paying attention in Sunday School of brightpath. Everyone who knows the historical details of Joseph Smith and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon plainly can see that Joseph Smith is the choice seer in 2 Nephi 3:5-23 and that these verse clearly are discussing the coming forth of the Book of Mormon by the instrumentality of the choice seer, whose name would be the name of his father and they both would be named after Joseph in Egypt.Joseph ben IsraelJoseph Smith, Sr.Joseph Smith, Jr.Book of Mormon = "the words of the book" that would come forth by means of the choice seer.Joseph Smith himself was of the line of Joseph, partly through Ephraim. The people of Lehi were descended from Manasseh, and also from Ephraim, as is made known by a statement of Joseph Smith concerning the family lines of Lehi and Ishmael, which, in turn, was known from reading the Book of Lehi before it was lost. But, there is no denying that this promise of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and its going forth was fulfilled by Joseph Smith. Joseph was named Joseph after his father, and they both were named after Joseph in Egypt. Joseph Smith was a seer and a translator. Joseph Smith brought forth the Book of Mormon and organized the Church so that it could survive and send the book forth to the world and to the First Nations Peoples. No one could destroy Joseph Smith, no matter how hard they tried (and many did try), until that work was complete and the continuation of the means of its going forth secured. 2

CASteinman Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) Homework assignment! research church history on the buried prophecy of the Lamanite prophet to come according to the JST Gen 50 24-38 and 2 Nephi 3. Hint Orson Pratt and David Whitmore and pres Kimball spoke of him. Ready set go!If you have something you want to bring up, bring it up. They all talked about Samuel the Lamanite. brightpath Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) Check the title page of the BofM. " To come by way of the Gentile". The BofM was brought forth by Joseph Smith a Gentile adopted into the House of Israel. Joseph Smith was not from the literal seed. Verse 24 of 2 Neph 3 gives us a clue to the entire chapter. In this verse Lehi is reviewing with his son Joseph the prophecy of Joseph in Egypt. The key word is reviewing! it is not a separate prophecy. Lehi is telling his son a mighty one will arise from the seed of Joseph in the last days. Edited April 22, 2013 by brightpath
brightpath Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 CASman you are funny! First you state the branch broken off is the Gentiles now you say the scriptures in question refer to Samuel the Lamanite. Really!
brightpath Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Mormon Mason you need to check verse 11 of 2 Nephi 3 also.11 But a aseer(Lamanite prophet) will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins(Lamanites); and unto him(Lamanite prophet) will I give bpower to cbring forth my word(BofM) unto the seed of thy loins(Lamanites)—and not to the bringing forth my word(BofM) only, saith the Lord, but to the convincing them(Lamanites) of my word(BofM), which shall have already gone forth among them(Lamanites). in the last days (JST).So when the Lamanite prophet appears the BofM will already be among them and it is his job to convince them. Joseph Smith had to produce and translate the BorM it wasn't already here.
Vance Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) Mormon Mason you need to check verse 11 of 2 Nephi 3 also.11 But a aseer(Lamanite prophet) (descendant of Joseph of old) will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins(Lamanites) (descendant of Joseph of old) :and unto him(Lamanite prophet) (descendant of Joseph of old) will I give bpower to cbring forth my word(BofM) unto the seed of thy loins(Lamanites)(the seed of Joseph of old's loins)—and not to the bringing forth my word(BofM) only, saith the Lord, but to the convincing them(Lamanites) (the seed of Joseph of old) of my word(BofM), (the Bible) which shall have already gone forth among them(Lamanites)(the seed of Joseph of old) in the last days (JST). Nah, you have it all wrong. Edited April 22, 2013 by Vance
brightpath Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 So who is the seed of Joseph of old? Who is the descendant of Joseph of old? Joseph Smith? Show me where JS himself claims to be from Israel even Ephraim? The last paragraph you can't explain so you just say I'm wrong. Again it says the BofM will already be here. How can it be JS then if when he came nothing was here? He produced the BofM and he brought about the restored gospel. Second " my word" is not the bible. How can the Seer convince Israel with just the Bible? He cannot He needs the whole truth(restored gospel, BofM). But nice try Vance.
CASteinman Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 So who is the seed of Joseph of old? Who is the descendant of Joseph of old? Joseph Smith? Show me where JS himself claims to be from Israel even Ephraim? II Nephi 3:11-15 Predicts a person to rise up:1. A Seer.2. Will have power to bring out the power of the Word of the Lord -- new words3. Will have power to convince people of the Word of the Lord that already went out -- old words.4. The people of Judah and the people of Joseph would write and those two would be brought together in the latter days.5. Those who seek to destroy him would be confounded.6. His name would be Joseph.7. His father's name would be Joseph.8. His work would bring salvation to the descendants of Joseph. There is no one to whom this applies except Joseph Smith and the bringing forth of the Book of Mormon. No one. 2
brightpath Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 Casman you have no credibility here. You are the one that says the broken off branch are the Gentiles and you are the one that says the 3 men are talking about Samuel the Lamanite with no refs. Tell me how the Gentiles are the broken off branch and not Joseph?
