Heh......... I think that ALL ppers that have been rejected ought to be published around here for us all to read.......now wouldn't THAT rock?!

Depends on who wrote them and why they were rejected!

Don't worry, I won't submit any papers to you.

I think yours will be out in a much better venue than an obscure message board on the internet.

I think it was you know who's informant. But I could be wrong. It seems that Dan had an enemy at MI who would feed someone the goings on of Dan at MI. Dan called it stalking. But like I said, I could be wrong about it all.

Alright, two can play this why me. :-) I think it was an informant of the informant of he-who-shall-not-be-named on the board-that-shall-not-be-named.

How'd I do, eh?

Well, the you know who on the other board who posts those kind of posts where there is a you know what leaking information has made many claims of the years that his you know what is supplying him with good information. Now to find out who that person is supplying the you know what from the you know whom would be great. :acute:

By the way, it is nice that you are now posting on this forum.

I've taken a rather extended hiatus from apologetics during the past few years. I used to be an avid and daily participant here, but I've had other demands on my time for quite a while (professional, home and church stuff).

Anyhoo, having followed this story for the last few days, I am more eager than ever to read Greg Smith's article about John Dehlin. While I have some doubts about whether this article played a role in DCP's dismissal as editor, I think Mr. Dehlin will come to regret his continued attempts to censor this article, as those attempts have only brought more attention to the article.

Is someone at FAIR going to approach Mr. Smith about publishing his article?

Thanks,

-Smac

I believe they're looking for a venue to publish the article; hopefully it does get published soon. I'd very much like to read it, too.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Bradford did not leak the emails. One of the employees of the Maxwell Institute, which he heads, leaked them.

And if this information made it to the other board? It is beginning to feel like a Get Smart episode without the humor.

The Church should provide better training on the proper use of the Cone of Silence.

Ah, so it is the church's fault that some secret rebel leaked Dan's letter? I think the church teaches confidentiality quite well, but some people feel they just have to open up their mouths, when they should be quiet. Privacy is important.

I hope the new direction of NAMI will be a good one. I also would like to see a independent journal or apologetic organization that has teeth. I contributed to NAMI I can simply change my contributions to a new journal very easily.

NONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO OPPOSED THE PUBLICATION HAD ACTUALLY READ THE PAPER!!!!

Let me repeat this for clarification purposes:

NONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO OPPOSED THE PUBLICATION HAD ACTUALLY READ THE PAPER!!!! Not a single one.

And, indeed, not a single one has read it to this day. Bradford expressly told Dan he did not want to read the article.

More and more this sounds like Bradford is following orders from higher up the food chain.

Sheeze, this is a tough crowd. Can't even get lulz riffing on Maxwell Smart.

Not to make light of this, as it is quite sad, but I realized today that Mormon studies is one heck of an interesting field to follow. It's full of drama. We've had forgeries, murders, excommunications, bureaucratic bungling, huge personalities and agendas, secret informants and leaks, and now people are talking of coups and conspiracies. It still isn't clear to me what exactly is going on, but I have to say that it is interesting to read about.

I haven't been keeping up with the forum much lately, all this about DCPs dismissal is news to me.

I have always thought a lot of him and certainly hate to see the thing get handled so poorly. Regardless of whatever motivations Bradford felt justified his actions towards Dr. P and the associate editors the way he handled it was just plain tacky.

From my own experience, things getting botched that poorly are more often the work of board or council rather than an individual. But I know zero about the situation or the political goings on involved in all this sort of stuff, so take that as sheer blind speculation.

If anyone is interesting in my opinion on the matter:

I have been in the private sector for many years, and seen managers hire and fire, make good and bad decisions. Some are courageous, some are cowards in how they implement that decision.

Dr. Bradford had to make a very painful decision, and made it. It could have been handled in a different manner. This happens all the time and we should be sympathetic to all those concerned, and I am sure he was doing the best he could.

Let's not be critical or vindictive.

Thanks.

Not vindictive. But come on, the news papers know of a persons firing, before they even know about it. The anti's and this board know and he still is out of contact with the net, so doesn't know. Paint me disgusted and critcal.

Astonishing. I thought opposing things one hasn't read was the sole purview of some of the prominant folks at MDB.

I think this is wise counsel. I'm positive that there is much that we are unaware of. I'm sure that the situation is tough for all those directly involved.

Dr. Peterson writes from Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.

A little too close to Reichenbach Falls for comfort.

Excellent! LOL I hope I am not the only one to know to what you refer and the implications thereof.

I would assume that Dr. Bradford is intelligent. Since he is intelligent he must have known the impact dan's firing would have on him. Plus, he waited until dan was out of the country, away from the office. And it was done by email which was then leaked to the antimormons. And you are telling us not to be critical? I am critical of any manager or boss who lacks empathy and love for his or her fellow human being that they would fire someone in this fashion. And it becomes worse when it is a brother in the gospel being fired in this way by another brother in the gospel. There is much to be critical about in this situation.

Not to mention the firing comes on the heels of a great loss in Dan's life. But no sympathy from Dr. Bradford. Just an email firing and dan's responses leaked to the antimormons who are at this moment is a gleeful mood because of it.

Frankly, it doesn't sound like Dr. Bradford's decision (and subsequent action) to dismiss an entire tier of professional contributors was at all "painful." How sad. Can you say "calloused." As a matter of fact, it sounds to me like he very coldly decided to execute the [multiple] dismissal without consideration for anyone or anything outside his own clearly myopic methods. Any manager/director that executes his/her duties in this irresponsible fashion is bound to be dismissed, in short order. Losses in institution reputation and financial donations demand no less.

It is often so but one man promoted one step beyond his capabilities can do a lot of damage.
