Would You Wish To Live In A Post Apocalyptic World? “Being Prepared”.

Isn't another name for post-Apocalyptic world, "the millenium"? And then isn't the world going to receive its paradisiacal glory? (this was mentioned in todays Gospel Principles lesson, though I'm thinking that may not actually happen until final judgment after the millenium ends. But if Jesus will reign, the world has to have glory, so I'm thinking we are not going to live in anything like scorched earth.)

All things considered, I would rather watch from heaven.

Since I don't know whether I am going to be so privileged, I feel it is a good idea to at least be somewhat prepared in case I have the other privilege, that of experiencing it in living color.

Actually, I suspect that in the cleanup we will have a lot of assistance from heavenly beings in some form of another. The millenium will not be a time of being left completely to our own devices, I don't think. For example, things will have gotten so screwed up in the tribulation that there may be food shortages in the time period immediately afterwards, but if God fed manna to the Israelites, then I'd expect at least as much from Him during the cleanup.

3. Not just shortage there will be starvation. He provided manna to the Isrealites because they had not had time to get their years supply. There will be miracles for the obedient but for those who have ignored the counsel I would bet not.

I grew up near a nuclear facility that was key to the US defense. We were high up on

the Soviet bomb list. Ever since then, I have said if there is a war or nuclear detonation,

I want it to go off in my back yard. I'm not big on Tribulation.

Even worse being "here" and not being able to do anything. I feel that way now about much that is going on in the world.

How do any of you feel, would you like to live through the tribulation or just watch from heaven?

I would like to do whatever God wants me to do. If He sees fit for me to live through the trials ahead that means that I am able to bear it... or He would not require it of me. If I get to enter into His rest before that great and dreadful day, so be it as long as I and my family are saved in the Celestial Kingdom as an eternal family. But while I have no doubt that those days will be bad and the Saints shall hardly escape, still I do not look upon those times with terror, for I know in whom I have trusted and He can protect me and mine if we will have faith in Him. Remember these people in the Book of Mormon:

"And it came to pass that Nephi and Lehi were encircled about as if by fire, even insomuch that they durst not lay their hands upon them for fear lest they should be burned. Nevertheless, Nephi and Lehi were not burned; and they were as standing in the midst of fire and were not burned. And when they saw that they were encircled about with a pillar of fire, and that it burned them not, their hearts did take courage. For they saw that the Lamanites durst not lay their hands upon them; neither durst they come near unto them, but stood as if they were struck dumb with amazement. I believe it is possible to still have that kind of protection, whether it is from the flames of fire or nuclear radiation. The Lord will not suffer the wicked to destroy the righteous even if He must destroy the wicked by fire. Also I look upon the "post apocalipse" as being a wonderful time, a time when the righteous will be resurrected and the wicked will be ashes and they will learn war no more, the lamb will lay down with the lion... I do not look at the doom and gloom that the secular "end of the world" predicts. Sure it will be awful for the wicked and the unrepentant, but to the righteous it will be a day of deliverance from this abominable world. This earth is to be turned into a Terrestrial world where the righteous will dwell for 1,000 years! I say bring it own! Whether in life or in death the righteous and the meek will inherit the earth.

I play Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. I even played "Lonely Hearts" which went into crazy Mormons in Utah (though avoided actually saying Mormon - They were called Cainnanites)

Well if you believe Skousen's "Cleansing of America" we will live in a post-apocalyptic world and it will happen soon. We will endure unspeakable trials but the righteous will eventually gather and establish Zion.

I also have a good friend who has, ahem, certain abilities. This individual believes something monumental that will start all this and change everythinig will happen in 6-7 years. Crazy I know and I mocked her for quite a long time until I experienced some things that few on this board would believe and I now think she's on to something and I am preparing.

The trouble with your statement is that if there hadn't been a few to recognize the problem in order for a massive push to correct it there would have been a massive Y2K problem.

In the late 70s we had an identical problem in the Army (and, I believe the whole of the USmerican military) because, when the original logistics support programs were written, there was only one digit available for the year. As '79 rolled around, there were well founded fears that the computers would see the next year, 0, as having already occurred and then cancelled the order. We were using punch cards back then, so increasing the number of characters by even one was not possible. It took a lot of programming effort and barrels of sweat to get to the point that "0" was recognized as being greater than "9" for this purpose. But no one thought to extend that to the same issue when (after cost reductions in memory made punch cards obsolete) we used two digits for the year with only about 15 years until two would be the new one.

The Chinese were so worried that the politburo decreed that every airline executive would be in the air at 0001 hours 1 Jan 2000. The thinking was that, if the executives had not done adequate preparation, they would, at least, pay the price for their negligence. The fears were well founded in '79 and they were no less so in 1999.
