Bernard Gui Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 There is a sect of Christian Fundamentalists who believe the world is ending this Saturday.Perhaps they're right.Bernard
LeSellers Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 It's 6:00 PM (1800h) in Asia right now, and there's no sign of an earthquake anywhere in the world. I suppose we'll have to wait for Jerusalem to hit 1800h to be sure, but so far, it ain't lookin' good for Hal's prophecy. Lehi
mfbukowski Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Your criticism of sola scriptura isn't even worth addressing as you don't even attack the doctrine, only your own view of it. And the title, "Is the World Ending on Saturday?" doesn't say anything about sola scriptura, so I simply found the irony of those making fun of Camping interesting, because I have the same feeling about him as I do JS.So teach me.I don't know why you're here- why are you here? I am here to learn and discuss. How am I supposed to know why sola scriptura is such a good thing if you don't show me? I am not about to explore it on my own because it makes no sense to me.
mfbukowski Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Deleted. I was being overly temperamental. This is a tough business!Even I, Mister Wonderful have the same problem!
urroner Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 This is a tough business!Even I, Mister Wonderful have the same problem! Are you saying that you have the same problem as Mudcat does? His problem is that he is too good looking, very talented, and is a real nice person. MFB, sorry, but you definitely don't have the same problem. At least, that is what I have been told.
urroner Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I never implied he was a mormon... What I tried to point out was: 1 ) he has a higher authority that the Bible. Namely: Harold Camping himself. Teach me Huges. Please show me in the Bible where is says the Bible has no higher authority. I never thought a book was an authority, especially one which can be interpreted a million different way.Just for the sake of discussion, let's say that the Bible is the final authority, who has the right to say how it is to be interpreted and which version of the Bible is the final final authority? Is it the KJV? Is it the NIV or the New Jerusalem Version? Is it even an English version of the Bible? Is it the Ethiopian Orthodox Bible which has additional books in it and lacks some that are in Western Christian Bibles? How about the Dead Sea Scrolls when it comes to certain OT books? Is it the LXX? It could be a German Bible, a French Bible, or is it the Egyptian Coptic Bible? If there is a disagreement between two versions of the Bible, which one takes precedence? Who is to say which one?Can you please help me reach a resolution on the above questions? I think they are rather very important questions that need to be answered and apparently you have resolved them all enough for yourself. 2) He has arrogated unto himself the role of an infallible prophet, revealing divine knowledge that has been utterly hidden until his own revelation.3) Harold Camping's view that God has revealed secret knowledge to him personally that has been utterly unknown to all previous generations of Christians. Shoot Hughes, even the ECFs talked about hidden knowledge that wasn't revealed to anybody until they were ready to receive it and they even said that most Christians at their time didn't know about this hidden knowledge.

Bernard Gui Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I hope his followers don't do anything rash. Bernard

Though I suppose there is one possibility left. What if the rapture happened and none of us were worthy of being taken up????

Though I suppose there is one possibility left. What if the rapture happened and none of us were worthy of being taken up???? The dead were supposed to rise as well, so between all the people who must be buried around there, you'd think at least a few would have qualified. (For what it's worth, i think Camping believed it would be about 3% of the alive population who would make it so athe very least, he would be have been wrong about the earthquake and massive destruction AND the amount of people actually going up ).
mercyngrace Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Anybody in the eastern time been raptured yet?Well, I'm still here (EST) but let me call my sainted mother. If anyone was taken up, it would be her.ringing...ringing...Hello?Nope. The East Coast is intact.

urroner Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Anybody in the eastern time been raptured yet?I live in the South and nobody around here has been raptured yet AFAIK, but then again, I wasn't expecting anybody around here to be raptured, they're all Evangelicals.
Mordecai Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I'm starting to get raptured a little bit right now. I hope they have Wi-Fi in Heaven. If so, I'll let y'all know how I'm doin' up there.

blackstrap Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 " there are those of the rising generation that will live to see the coming of the Son of Man " paraphrased quote. How much longer can this be postponed?
