Hmmm. Hate mail. Let's love on each other.

It's obvious that I disagree with LDS theology.

That doesn't mean we have to resort to condescension.

Let's please all turn over a new leaf and examine LDS theology.

I went over to CARM and just poked my head in on some threads there that dealt with mormons, and considering your background, you have been treated 10 times better here, than any LDS person will be treated over there. Yet LDS are called "whiners" when we ask for mutual respect, and that "respect must be earned". And this was to a newbie.

:P

Here's my answer: Do I believe it is possible to become creator of another world? Yes. What about having a "continuation of seeds". Yes. Do I know all the details? No. Many of the details? No. Will God always be my God? Yes. Will I ever pass him? No. Will he bring me up as a son of God and joint-heir with Christ? That is my hope.

End of story.

You have confirmed your belief.

May I quote you?

Your complaint is noted.

Thank you for allowing me to continue.

It's not that I disrespect you as a person, you understand.

It's that I disagree with your theology.

Please be careful to make that distinction.

You mock things I hold sacred, believing you are speaking "the truth in love," (wresting from Paul).

In reality, your disdain and disrespect disgusts me. You are a bigot.

Note that complaint, too. You can quote that.

Nah. Can't quote that.

I don't seek to make you appear bitter.

I only seek your true theology.

It'd be far easier to make the distinction if you and your cohorts bothered to do the same.

I don't mean to appear "bitter", rather, disgusted. there's a difference.

You think your theology is biblical.

I know it isn't and I can and will show it.

Can we get past the personal realm into the theological?

I don't mean to appear "bitter", rather, disgusted. there's a difference.

Fine.

I don't want to present you as "disgusted."

I'd rather present your theology.

You do a stunningly poor job of that, I might add.

I'm interested, now that I've given you an answer, could you please answer the OP here?

My main goal is to compare and contrast biblical theology against LDS theology.

May I ask you if you believe you'll become a God over another world?

Hate mail? Nah, a bad joke maybe.

Love each other? Nah, you won't respect me in the morning. :P

And, by the way, keep your hands away from my leaf. In other words, leaf me alone.

Okay, I'm good to answer your question. I don't think God lets people who tell bad jokes become gods. It's part of His eternal pun-ishment.

Speaking of eternal - do you believe you'll be issued a harp, halo and hymn book when you pass through the Pearly Gates? What is your plan 'From Here to Eternity?' Are you ever going to get tired of just singing? I mean like forever. My wife & kids are tired of my singing about 15 seconds after I open my mouth.

Did you ever think about getting a GED?

I'd rather present your theology.

No, you'd rather present your version of our theology by mining this board for quotes that you can use to throw in the face of members of my faith as part of your "research". Your faux bewilderment that no one is obliging you is getting old.

I've seen your methods of expressing truth in love, and frankly, if you represent true Christianity, the rest of us are better off without it.

Thanks for the quote.

What is a "worthy single?"

Worthiness is a manner of living and from the heart.

a Faithful person - someone who keeps their covenants someone who when they fall repents repairs the damage, gets up and

carrys the cross that God has placed upon them someone who loses their life in the service of others.

It is a manner of living someone who follows the promptings of the Holy Spirit and rejects the tempter.

Someone who hold a current temple recommend ( fo rthe right reason ).

I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their heartsâ? (D&C 137:9).

â??When I give a commandment to any of the sons of men to do a work unto my name, and those sons of men go with all their might

and with all they have to perform that work, and cease not their diligence, and their enemies come upon them and hinder them

from performing that work, behold, it behooveth me to require that work no more at the hands of those sons of men, but to accept of their offerings. â?¦

â??â?¦ This I make an example unto you, for your consolation concerning all those who have been commanded to do a work and

have been hindered by the hands of their enemies, and by oppression, saith the Lord your Godâ? (D&C 124:49, 53; see also Mosiah 4:27).

"Some worry endlessly over missions that were missed, or marriages that did not turn out, or babies that did not arrive, or children

that seem lost, or dreams unfulfilled, or because age limits what they can do. I do not think it pleases the Lord when we worry

because we think we never do enough or that what we do is never good enough.

Some needlessly carry a heavy burden of guilt which could be removed through confession and repentance."

Boyd K. Packer

The Lord did not say of Oliver, â??[if] he falls,â? but â??When he falls he shall rise againâ? (D&C 117:13; emphasis added).

I have no problem with people who disagree with my theology, that is the right of anyone. What I do not like is when people ridicule and mock things that I hold sacred. When I hear/see statements like "your beliefs are not biblical/christian and are worthy of being mocked", that is when there is nothing to beneficial to continuing the conversation or even answering questions.

I know you did not make the statement, but still, your goal is the same.

Well, if we say "x," those opposed to the Church will say "Y" and then tell everybody that we said "Z" and we did it in a most despiteful, malicious way and if we say "Y", those opposed will say "X" and then tell everybody that we said "It's KLJHDFLKJDLK you blankety blankety &@*^#!!!!!!!!"

No matter what we say, we will always say the wrong thing and we will say it in the most angry, spiteful, arrogant, venomous way possible.

russ, how close am I to the mark?

I've never said that other religions are deserving of mocking.

I do indeed believe that the LDS religion is far from Christianity. Just as far as Islam from Buddhism and just as far as New York from California.

The statement "Mormonism isn't Christian" isn't intended as a personal afront. It's a theological stance based upon the evidence.

You are both right and wrong.

Some LDS are exactly as you describe.

Some aren't.

Some Christians get "all bent."

Some don't.

Do you want to tell me what you believe?

(Why is this like pulling teeth?)

Ninja, you've gone by so many different names that it's hard to keep up.

Well, if Bob wouldn't have banned me so many times I wouldn't have had to keep creating new screen names. It's his fault. ;)

I'm listening now.

Apparently not. You're still asking. Don't you think listening entails accepting No for an answer?

What do you believe?

1 I believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2 I believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adamâ??s transgression.

3 I believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4 I believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5 I believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6 I believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7 I believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8 I believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; I also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9 I believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10 I believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11 I claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of myr own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12 I believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law, so far as it is interpreted correctly.

13 I believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, I may say that I follow the admonition of Paulâ??I believe all things, I hope all things, I have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, I seek after these things.

Do you believe you'll become a God over another planet and that you'll procreate spirit-children who will take on physical bodies to inhabit your planet or planets?

I have not found it necessary in 53 years to develop a belief with this kind of specificity. I believe Joseph Smith when he said that the same sociality that exists among us here will exist among us in heaven. I don't know how that translates into everyone going out and doing their own thing as exhalted beings. So, I neither believe it nor disbelieve it. I have questions that God will answer in His own good time.

Love,

ChristianSoldier :P

I did not misquote you because I never attributed the quote to you. The quote came from one of the posters over at CARM. I said your goal was the same.

Your avatar over there is considered mocking by the LDS people, because it is something that is sacred that is put forth to those who will also ridicule and mock.

As I said, it does not bother me that you disagree with my religion. It does not bother me that you do not think my religion is Christian.

I know what I believe, and I know it is centered on Christ. You can think what you want but it will not change the fact that my Savior is Jesus Christ.

It is funny how so many different people can read the same book of scripture, and get so many different interpretations of it. All different and all backed up by scripture.

Well, if you have Biblical evidence, then by all means Russ, please go over to my thread and set out the minimal requirements found in the Bible that it takes to be a Christian and please only use the Bible to state your claims. You can't use anything outside of the Bible like the creeds that came from later centuries, quotes from ECFs or modern day preachers, just use the Bible and please don't throw in your personal interpretation of these scriptures. If you can define these minimal requirements, then we'll have something to talk about.

Too many people who claim that Mormons aren't Christians also believe that the complete gospel is in the Bible and if it isn't in the Bible then it isn't gospel. So Russ, from the Bible and the Bible only, can you lay out the minimal requirements that one must abide by in order to be a Christian. If you can't do this, then we don't have much to talk about.

Okay, do you or don't you believe you'll become a God or Goddess over another planet and people it with your spirit-children?

So you posted something without actually doing research on it to see if it's accurate. How surprising.

Let me educate you: http://www.fairlds.org/Misc/When_the_Proph...nking_Done.html

Actually, by writing the article, it's evident that I did do at least some homework.

Thank you for adding to it.

I think his change will be something along the lines...

"Mormon Leaders cant keep their stories straight."

I'd just like to remind him that not even the Aposltes in the Bible agreed on everything or had a uniform way of practicing the faith.

Gal 2

11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
