Profile picture advice

I just wondered if anyone on the board could advise me on this. Trying to put a image on my profile photo, but can not seem to do it for some reason. Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Click on your current face anywhere will take you to your profile. Your face will be to the left, with a little icon on the bottom left of it (a white icon of a little mountain and sun, representing a photo). You can upload an new image from there.

Thanks for that Pyreaux. Unfortunately, it seems the file size is to big to upload. I will have to work around it somehow.

The max file size for a profile pic is 0.1 MB. Or 100 KB. Allowable file types are gif, jpeg, jpe, png, or webp. Jpeg is usually the best choice since you can pack more image detail into a file, due to jpeg being a compressed type. 

Is the image on the web so that you could share a link? If I can get the image I can cut it down to size for you. 

Alternatively, here's an online tool that will help you resize an image: https://www.the-image-editor.com/en - I've never used it (I have a couple of image editors on my laptop that I can use) but it may do the trick.

Hi Stargazer.

The photo is from my photo gallery on my phone. A message appears to large to post on profile, also tried to send you same photo, same message came on screen, file to large. I will have a try with the link you sent me. I will get the idea of technology soon, I hope.

I tried to add a photo and then a screenshot of the photo and it wouldn’t do it for the same reason.  May try the link later.  Having a rare these days fibro flare (heat last week maybe) and my brain isn’t willing to try new things.

I remember what a pain it was to get a profile pic put up. I'll probably keep this one forever because I don't want to deal with it again.  Good luck Tony!

I just had to say this. In the early 80s, while still at school. It was a time when home computers became available, mostly computer games. At my school, a mathematics teacher ran after school lessons for pupils who wanted to learn about computers. A friend of my went along and joined up. After a few weeks I decided to go along with him. The teacher said I could only join in if I provided a note from my parents, as it was after school. At this point, I declared that computers were a gimmick, and would never catch on 😱.I then went home and left it there. Forty years on, I can confidently, my ability to predict the future is not very reliable 😁. So now I embrace technology, and try to adapt accordingly.

I have the worst time with this as well. Very few will fit, it's always the file is too large. I use to have a flowers one, and then decided to change it and regret it. But I guess the one I have now will suffice. It's actually a pic I pulled from my brother's FB posts of a funny meme. But maybe I'll try a new one. I do need to take a class or something. ETA: actually the backstory is I was trying to change or delete my cover photo or the background on my profile and it messed with my profile photo somehow. But I break or jinx copy machines with my bad luck.

Technology, it is easy when you know what to do. It is just getting the knowledge. I have similar misfortune myself, causing printers to malfunction, pressing the wrong thing on computer keyboards and something going wrong from there.

Finally, I managed to get a picture on my profile. Technology, at last I am getting there. Many thanks to all who contributed to assisting me with this.
