  1. Insight, but, I hear you. I'm not comparing the two, by any means.
  2. While I'd like to say that I'm not bothered inordinately by stup!d, juvenile taunts at athletic events (such as "f*** the Mormons"), the truth is, I'm not all that convinced that the distance between something that, allegedly, is so relatively benign, on the one hand, and things such as arson and vandalism at properties of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that the actors choose as their targets specifically because of their association with the Church of Jesus Christ, on the other hand, is all that great. Truly, it does seem, in many instances, as though anti-"Mormonism" [sic] is the last acceptable social prejudice.
  3. i love that. ♥️ Thanks for posting it, @InCognitus.
  4. I'm sure then-President Uchtdorf still is stinging from the slight!
  5. I don't know if I have very much to add to this discussion, except to say that I think ("gospel" according to Kenngo1969 here) that, in this context, "moneychangers" refers to a person or to people who put anything (including, but not necessarily limited to, mercantalism/materialism/business interests over and above doing the Lord's will. His rebuke of Newel K. Whitney for doing that by his failure to liquidate his Kirtland business interests and relocate with the Latter-day Saints to Far West in a more timely manner makes that clear, I think. For what it's worth.
  6. Well, then ... [Ahem!] "Repent, ye sinner! Repent!" —Unnamed leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints How's that?
  7. Sounds like Tim Ballard is his own worst enemy.
  8. Soul on Fire With all the dreck that comes out of "Hollow Wierd" (aka Hollywood) my reaction to too many movies is,"Well, there went two hours of my life I'll never get back!" That's why seldom do I watch movies, and hardly ever in theaters when I do. This one, however, was well worth it.
  9. Certainly, he's come a long way since this encounter with President Monson in an elevator! It Is Better to Look Up
  10. So, perhaps Paul Wuthrich isn't such a bad likeness, huh?
  11. If that is a genuine photo [and not a fauxto ] of Joseph Smith, the remarkable thing about it is ... even after everything he went through ... no gray hair!
  12. Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein's message to Latter-day Saints, and to others, in the wake of the shooting and arson at the church in Michigan: Thank you, Rabbi. Much appreciated.
  13. Because of the above, I will not be live blogging General Conference starting tomorrow. Rather than p!$$!ng in his own pool @Chum thought it would be funner to come and p!$$ in mine, and he was right ... since lthe moderator(s) allowed him to do so with impunity. At my own discretion, I may switch to a forum where I have much more moderation and editorial control: In other words, if I don't like your comment ( @Chum, and anyone else), it may well simply disappear without notice. If I choose another forum, I will post a link here (but don't hold your breath). @Chum (and anyone else) have fun p!$$!ng in your own pool (but ... where's the fun in that?) Oh, well! 😞
  14. Who the h*** knows these days, eh? Upperclassbeings? Upperclassentities?
  15. Whoa. My respect for Nicole Parker wasn't lacking to begin with, but ... Bravo! You go, Sister! You go! Hooray!
  16. I share that opinion/sentiment. His father described him as a devoted family man. I can believe, readily, that he had a good deal of enmity and animosity for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have a much harder time believing that those feelings stem from the failed relationship he had with a member of the Church of Jesus Christ [allegedly, because of his (alleged) recalcitrance/intransigence when it came to getting his tattoos removed as a condition of continuing/deepening the relationship]. In short, why is he still so hung up on that woman [or on what happened between them] when he moved on, married, and had at least one child with someone else? To me, it doesn't wash.
  17. Is that true? Gotta be at least 21 to buy alk-ee-hall , and nobody but some upperclassmen (sorry for the sexist term: not sure what the nonsexist equivalent is) are gonna be able to meet that criterion. It has been my impression that that this loverly bit of an attempt at bridge building (all in fun, all in fun! ) originates with students.
  18. Meh. This is a nothingburger. We'd better get used to it.
  19. For what it's worth, I just posted this on another forum: Condolences, all around.
  20. All best wishes, prayers, and hopes for you and yours, Sir.
  21. Indeed. A couple of scriptures come to mind, for whatever they're worth:
  22. Put up or shut up. It is incumbent upon anyone with an alternate theory of the crime to provide support for it. No video evidence places Tyler Robinson at the scene? Mmm-kay. And, I confess: I was the second gunman on the grassy knoll in Dallas on November 22, 1963. And while I hope that neither a jury nor any of its constituent jurors is stup!d enough to fall for this garbage, if he gets acquitted, these people have blood on their hands, IMO. P.S.: Oh, Lord! I had an open mind, but I'm not gonna watch an hour and nine minutes of video. Anybody got a summary?
  23. While, certainly, this does little [if anything] to salve current pain, is. He is a good man. His mission continues elsewhere. And for every sorrowful parting that occurs on this side of the veil (condolences to Wendy and his children and grandchildren ), there is at least one joyful reunion that occurs on the other side of the veil. ("Hello, Dantzel, Dear!" ) RIP, President Russell M. Nelson: Returned With Honor.
  24. "Worlds without number," indeed (see Moses 1:33)!
