But doesn’t that mean there is a possibility that every contingency could fail?

The Vision of the Redemption of the Dead

So you are arguing that we should accept that interpretation of the text because it would be nice to believe that? Even if it is historically unlikely to be accurate? -
Here is a bit on the treatment of detainees. A Google search will pull up hundreds of articles about mistreatment from observers and detainees. https://www.hrw.org/report/2025/07/21/you-feel-like-your-life-is-over/abusive-practices-at-three-florida-immigration

Laughing at people in extended detention in inhumane conditions isn’t kind and is very distasteful. Probably not. Ummmmm……..what? You sound like a narc. It is very different. Wrong. False. Incorrect. “Why are you beating your spouse?” is hopefully analogous to this question. *Looks at early church history* Really? Really? The Twelfth Article of Faith was never intended as a generalized command to obey all secular laws always. The writer of it deliberately broke secular laws. It was also PR to say that we aren’t seeking to defy laws generally like some of our enemy’s claim. Because I am not a bootlicker who believes that authority is justified or acting rightly just because it is authority. This kind of abject and complete deference to secular law is what powers authoritarian states. Sometimes the better option is civil disobedience. Sometimes the better option is armed revolt. Sometimes the better option is to smash things and light fires. Sometimes the better option is to strike and/or shut things down to hurt the interests of the wealthy to get their attention. Being unequivocally devoted to the status quo is almost always siding with the oppressors over the oppressed. I think members of the Church in the US have been supping way too much at the American Evangelical Christian table that generally sides with the powerful over the powerless. I wish we’d cribbed more notes from some Catholics and other Christian groups that push for liberating the captive and pleading the case of the oppressed and fighting for actual social justice.

It is more likely that not eating for extended periods can lead to hallucinations and altered states of mind. This makes it more likely that someone has visions or other ecstatic experiences. You can also see it as God using that change in the body and mind to communicate more easily.

Good. Those are called protestors. And for evading accountability for their unconstitutional activities. Storming the capitol to overturn an election is not a frat party. Also this reveals that you actually have contempt for law enforcement. Over 140 law enforcement officers were injured on January 6th. There were concussions, broken bones, stab wounds, bludgeoning wounds, and more. You actually don’t care about them because you see politics as a team sport. When your side violently assaults law enforcement you call it juvenile antics. Meanwhile every protestor you don’t agree with is a violent thug even if they aren’t assaulting law enforcemtn. You are inconsistent and are easily led to dismiss horrible crimes as a minor harmless incident. That is how support for fascism works. Goebbels would have loved you. Please step out of that mindset. It is toxic. Whereas you speak words of moderation and peace? LMAO It is time to come rejoin reality and the world of objective facts. Assuming you still can. I hope so. If not you are in for a rough ride.

Possible but the person behind it would have to be very rich. He might have had to bribe everyone up to and including Pilate and Pilate loved clowning on Jewish customs and traditions. Then to afford an unused cave/rock tomb means you are very wealthy.

That is what I think is most probable.

In New Testament Greek the part of the wrist that would be nailed to a cross would be considered to be part of the hand. There are two likely spots used for nails. One between the ulna and radius just above the wrist. The other is “destot’s spot” between the wrist and hand. Both would support a person’s weight. Both would also be incredibly painful which was the point. You could also drive nails through the wrist and then lash the forearms to the cross with rope and there is some evidence this might have been done but it is sketchy. You could theoretically put nails in both the palms of the hand and in the wrist but I haven’t seen or heard of any evidence that this was done. There is a big argument about nail placement due to the shroud of Turin but I consider the Shroud to be a pretty obvious forgery (and the church leaders who originally got a hold of it considered it a forgery) so I don’t have an opinion there. You can see the nail placement being a problem for the Catholic stigmata miracles having the blood come from the center of the hand but you can counter that the miracle was done in a way that would be understood by those that experienced it so it is a minor issue. The even bigger problems with the crucifixion narrative are that they were taken down that same day which was against Roman custom. You left them there until they died and then kept them there until the body rotted. The idea was to do this in public areas so you see these traitors day after day so you know what happens to those that defy Rome. Once they were rotted away you took the bodies and dumped them in a mass grave. The bigger problem is why the Romans agreed to take the bodies down in deference to the Jews and how Jesus was allowed a special burial fit for a king. It would be much harder to create a narrative of the resurrection had the body of Jesus been in a mass grave. There would be no “the body is gone” bit. Many historians suspect the empty tomb and the stories of the guards at the tomb and the like were additions in the oral traditions around Jesus that cropped up before the gospels were written.

You are describing a fascist state. If my favorite leader of all time were behind it I need to go home and rethink my life.

No, it is more convoluted to argue that in the distant past the true religion had the correct current doctrine of Satan, then lost it somehow, and then accidentally rediscovered the correct version from another religion. That might solve the theological problem but it creates huge historical problems.

That currently has over three times as many people in “deportation camps/prisons” as Germany had in concentration camps at the start of the Second World War. There is also a (probably unrealistically high) detainment goal for the year that is being pushed so there is an incentive to cut legal corners and keep people locked up. Add in that ICE and Border Patrol have had to ramp up their numbers and the training is abysmal. Also leaked memos given instructions are directing federal agents in these agencies to do things that are blatantly unconstitutional.

Reporting them at this time could literally get them killed so absolutely not. It could also get them thrown into a poorly built and maintained detention camp for months with little or no due process. Even if they do not die reporting them would be cruel.

Satan wasn’t in the original account in Genesis. It would be weird if he was. Judaism didn’t have a concept analogous to Satan as a malevolent anti-God figure until much later during the intertestamental period (possibly adopted in part from Zoroastrianism) and it never really caught on. This is the angel Samael who shows up most prominently in the Enoch literature as both an adversary and instrument of God. Christianity refined the concept of Satan hard and made it much more important in their theology. The Book of Moses inserts Satan into the early parts of the Book of Genesis. You can argue that there was a concept of Satan in the distant past that was lost but then Zoroastrianism brought it back but that is a bit of a stretch.

You might want to check on recent developments there. ICE is largely refusing to identify themselves as federal law enforcement in appearance. That is not that odd. A lot of federal agents dress in plainclothes. The fact that many of them are hiding their faces to avoid identification is very troubling. They clearly don’t want to be held accountable for their actions which is not a good look for law enforcement. Especially when they are extrajudicially executing people or detaining them without normal due process. Oh good, another irrelevant tangent. No. Proletarian means “working class”. You said they dress “proletarian” suggesting that made them easy to identify. So Antifa is both a secret dangerous organized tactical unit with a standardized uniform type and also a bunch of keyboard warriors that hide in their mom’s basement angry that she asked them to take out the trash? Might want to pick a lane there. Note that this is a standard bit of fascist propaganda: “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.” -Umberto’s essay on fascism The Jews were portrayed by fascists as both inept objects of weak blood and degeneracy but also were secretly masterminding worldwide conspiracies of unimaginable power depending on which portrayal was needed at the time. It is amazing that the technique still works on so many. Antifa is both a bunch of basement dwelling losers and is also poised to destroy the nation. The more things change. Most of society has moved past calling other humans “freaks” because it is dehumanizing and evil. The term was used by the powerful against the maginalized who would perform for the grotesque amusement of the powerful. Please try to join those of us trying to move past that. Also, if you talked like that publicly to one of my transgender or drag performer friends I would call you out verbally and shame you into retreat. I am not the only one who would. Stay away from them. I was trying to show off weirdo antics. You seemed to enjoy that kind of thing when you insisted there were hundreds of videos showing off weird people. How would you know that unless you enjoyed watching them all? I am guessing it was just too much effort to actually learn something. It was an unsupported assertion by a rando nobody who put up a video on a dying website. I can find a short clip from a lunatic asserting that Mormons are vile cultists but I doubt you seriously use stupid assertions like this as a standard of evidence. If you do then I pity you. There was nothing genocidal in what was said. You are ridiculous.

I mean, look at it from Cain’s point of view. Cain offers the fruits of the field and they are rejected. Abel offers part of the flock and is accepted. So logically meat equals better here. Then Cain figures that the more high-value the sacrifice the better. So what is more highly valued than animal life? So he follows through logically and God again rejects the sacrifice. Seems like God’s instructions were unclear.

The closest interpretations we have to the time of the writing of Genesis are some rabbinic traditions as to what the Mark could mean. One popular one was part of the name of God on Cain’s forehead since marring the name was bad so marring Cain would be bad. Others suggested a dog to protect him or a horn grew out of his forehead or he got leprosy. I like one of the Midrash takes on Lamech, the guy who boasts of being avenged more than Cain. One story has it that Lamech was out hunting with a bow but he was blind so his son (or a young boy) pointed him at a beast to kill. So Lamech releases the arrow and kills the beast but then discovers it is Cain and he killed his ancestor. Then he wails and claps his hands in despair but, being blind, strikes the boy he is with and kills him too. Hence Lamech saying he killed two people when talking about his curse and, thinking that the killing was inadvertent, that God would give him even greater protection than he gave Cain. The end of the story isn’t great. Really Lamech should have been shot by seven arrows so the curse was fulfilled. C’mon people! Note these are traditions and midrash and aren’t canon to anyone and are presented as speculations and interpretations. To know what it was supposed to mean or refer to we would need to talk to whomever recorded the story that was spliced into Genesis.

So……ICE agents are cosplaying as Antifa stormtroopers? Proletarian? Like working class clothing? I often dress like a weirded out freak and I don’t dress like an ICE agent or one of your antifa stormtroopers. I prefer fetish gear really. Brings out the color of my eyes. Bwahahahahaha! Yeah, I thought so. The usual response from someone called on a fake anecdote. That it is the other person’s responsibility to find it. And not only that there are hundreds of them. Uh-huh.. However if you want to talk about political zealot morons on the streets here is a whole playlist of a street reporter interviewing MAGA folks. I am sure they won’t say anything stupid or incediary or false and I am sure they all avoided dressing like weirded out freaks. Let’s take a look shall we? I generally don’t think that any ideology should be judged solely by gotcha reporting or finding their most demented adherents and parading their insanity. But if we are gonna go there I thought I would bring dozens of them out here. It doesn’t necessarily prove anything but it was easy. Fun too.
