Popular Post Nofear Posted December 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 7, 2024 Not the first modification, but the most recent. https://www.ldsliving.com/have-you-seen-this-new-introduction-to-the-book-of-mormon/s/12565 Quote “God is your Heavenly Father. He loves you, and there is so much He wants to teach you. He wants you to understand the purpose of your life. He wants to guide you back to His presence. Part of His plan for doing all that was to make this book available to you. “Since the beginning of time, God has spoken to His children all over the world. Often they have recorded their experiences and God’s messages to inspire future generations to choose good instead of evil and come to know their Father in Heaven. Some of these records are lost to time. Others may yet be found. One such record was buried in a hillside in around A.D. 400 on the North American continent. Its location was revealed by an angel in 1823. It was translated into modern language by the gift and power of God. That record is the Book of Mormon. “It’s called the Book of Mormon because an ancient prophet named Mormon compiled centuries of writings from other prophets into one book. It is subtitled ‘Another Testament of Jesus Christ’ because it bears powerful witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who came to earth to suffer and die for the sins of the world—including yours. He wants to heal you of your sins, make you whole again, and prepare you for eternal life with your Heavenly Father. “In this book, you will learn of faithful, courageous people who received light and knowledge from heaven. They believed in God. They had faith in Jesus Christ, even centuries before He was born. They made great sacrifices for their faith. They also made mistakes. But they obtained redemption from their sins. And they risked their lives to share the true doctrine of Jesus Christ with others and then preserve His teachings for future generations, including you. “Read the Book of Mormon with an open mind and heart. As you pray to your Father in Heaven and diligently seek Him within the pages of the Book of Mormon, He will reveal the truth to you in His time and His way. He directed the creation and preservation of this record to fulfill His holy purpose, and you are an important part of that purpose. May you find God on these pages and discover His messages to you.” 8
Dario_M Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 From who is that qoute? Who have written that down?
2BizE Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 There is an app for the Book of Mormon. I do not have the app, and have not personally seen it, but in the BoM app, the Introduction is completely different than the one in the standard Book of Mormon. LDS living did an article about the new introduction, but it quickly became controversial and LDS Living took down the article.

Zosimus Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Good to see there’s no assumption about the location of the events in the record. There is the part about the record being buried in a hill in North America in around 400 AD. But the book never says that. Strike that bit and we’ll at last have an introduction that gives people all around the world a reason to read the book. The Book of Mormon can then become the cornerstone of a truly global religion, instead of an American one.

So it's basically the book of Mormon that has been put only in the app. So i can read the book of Mormon in the app now?

supersc Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 I downloaded the Book of Mormon app to see what's up. - The text of the Book of Mormon retains the Title Page, Title Page of the Book of Mormon, and the Introduction as it is in the Gospel Library app and in hardcopy print. - The text that is excepted in the Opening Post is actually a write-up in the Book of Mormon app reached by clicking on a heading and picture within the app titled "What is the Book of Mormon?" The LDS Living article may have given the wrong impression that the actual Book of Mormon Introduction may have been re-written in the app text, which it has not as of today.
supersc Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 For reference, I downloaded the Android Book of Mormon app, version 4.6.0
Nofear Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 For reference, the online Book of Mormon still has the same 1981 version: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/bofm/introduction?lang=eng I confirm what supersc is saying (well done!), the text is just a description of "What is the Book of Mormon?". The OP article was definitely misleading. Even in the Book of Mormon app, the introduction is the same as the print and online version. 1

The Book of Mormon app is designed to be shared with investigators of the Church. The experience is different. 2

I think maybe the Gospel Library app may have aimed at people like myself. Who are looking to learn a little about the LSD. And get some understanding, before taking any other investigating.

Tony uk Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Oh right. Sorry, this gets worse for me. I've put my glasses on now. Apologies, for this. I'll be more careful in future. That's a mistake I should have avoided 1
