Whelp, Colorado Springs is growing by leaps and bounds.  In the 20 years I've been here, my original ward boundaries now has 2 stakes and 5-7 wards in it.   Population density is absolutely increasing, but such a disproportionate amount is coming from secular godless Cali, it's still amazing to watch the growth.   A guy in my stake has been in 2 stakes and 4 wards, living in the same house, as the boundaries keep getting redrawn to account for the growth.

I'm in Colorado Springs and I have been in two stakes and three wards all while staying in the same house.

I’m in Littleton. A noticeable number of our younger families have moved south, though mostly to castle rock, not Colorado Springs. If you run across any please send them back home.

Do you have any data by country? I would be interested in the latest data for Mexico. James Dow, the great statistician of religion (now deceased) used to say that 30-35% of any religious group form the core - the faithful ones who keep things going. Take care.

Navidad,

In the 2020 Mexico census, there were self-reported 337,998 members. In 2020 the church reported a membership in Mexico of 1,481,530.  That means only about 23% of members in Mexico consider themselves to be members.

Our Stake split two weeks after the temple was dedicated here in 2021. We too went from about 150 ish active to our ward, after, splitting, to maybe 70 ish and the other ward has grown and we are losing people. It definitely puts a strain on the existing resources in our ward. Our Bishop, our SP told me would not have been considered for the calling but who else? on paper he looks good but.........his one counselor is basically inactive and the other counselor works about 80 hours a week and his wife is the RS Pres. and she's been in it since 2020? We have people who don't speak english and it's hard to get people to attend or stay and they have to listen to someone who barely speaks english. It's goofy how they did things for absolute sure.

It is probably larger than that.  I'd guess between 45% and 50%.  The number of stakes are a good indication of how many members have to be active.  Using the US/CA stake numbers from last year (which should be fairly close to this year since the stakes didn't increase that much) and using the stake size requirements, I get a little over 50% of the membership are needed to fill every stake.

One of my very good friends was a mission president on Chili.  He told me they had many wards in stakes in Santiago that had 1000 members on the roles with 30 attending.  THat was the norm.  He focused his missionaries on seeking out the inactive for much of their time.  I think you will find wards outside the US where this is common.  Where I live I would put the activity rate at about 45%.

So...what do you all think is the most accurate metric to use in determining if the Church is/has/will  meet it's mandate from the Lord ...1) number of convert baptisms per year,   2) number of people who have been taught or otherwise been exposed to the teachings and doctrines of the Church via our personal ministry, Full time Missionaries, their own individual study, Internet, or other  Church resources?

My thinking is that it doesn't matter what the number of convert baptisms are, as exciting as those numbers can be,  but rather, is the church continuing to exponentially expand its reach around the earth...touching the hearts of countless millions of Heavenly Fathers children.  I believe it is doing exactly that....and that is truly exciting.
