Sunday school change predictions

[Doctrine 612]

Just wanted to have this prediction documented. 😂 

just some ideas floating around my mind.

 

i think we will go to a two year book program.

meaning it will take two years to study each testament and during the off Sunday school weeks we will study the priesthood/relief society lesson and Book of Mormon.

and during the Book of Mormon years we will study sections from the other scriptures to help prepare for Book of Mormon understanding.

We need to include some other philosophies of men which warrant praying about as well. 

Best books and all that. (Not gonna happen!)

We need to take on Positivism big time.  WAR on positivism!

Positivism and "keep-up-with-the-Joneses" must be destroyed.

I have allready read the whole book of Mormon. Everything. That whas my study for so far. And offcourse also knowing al the commitments as well. 

I must say that i find the Book of Mormon way more interesting to read then the bible (the old and the new testament) 

The book of Mormon is that extra 3e new testament that i really have injoyed reading.

With the bible i never came so far.

I think most members encounter the same thing when trying to read the Book of Mormon as opposed to the Bible, I know I did. The books in the BoM were combined together over a short period of time by a single author and seem to be intended to read sequentially and, the storyline is consistent throughout the book, mostly focusing Lehi and his descendants. Of course, the same cannot be said at all for the Bible, especially the OT. It has been cobbled together over thousands of years by thousands of different authors, redactors, translators, rulers, scribes, committees, prophets, and the like, into thousands of different editions in English alone. No wonder it can be a slog at times. The Bible is, however, foundational to Mormonism. Everything rests on it, even the BoM. So it is important to understand its place within our religion.

I have found that placing the Bible in a historical context really helps me understand the text better. The literature in this area is never-ending and just getting started in it is a task in and of itself. I think looking at how we as Mormon's view and use the Bible is a good place to start and here are a couple of book recommendations as a starting point. I realize English is not your native language. Unfortunately, Mormon scholarship is primarily in English.

Mormons and the Bible by Philip Barlow  

This analyses how LDS leaders from Joseph Smith to the present have used the Bible and examines our fundamental commitment to the KJV.

Authoring the Old Testament by David Bokovoy

"Authoring the Old Testament is a welcome introduction, from a faithful Latter-day Saint perspective, to the academic world of Higher Criticism of the Hebrew Bible. . . . Readers will be positively served and firmly impressed by the many strengths of this book, coupled with Bokovoy's genuine dedication to learning by study and also by faith." John W. Welch.

I also find it helpful to have a concordance on hand when reading the Bible. For the New Testament I highly recommend Thom Wayments translation and commentary. Dr. Wayment is a professor at BYU.

Yes the Book of Mormon is totaly differend then the Bible. The book of Mormon looks just more pure and more real to me. Plus i like to read the storie's of all the prophets in the Book of Mormon. Like Moroni, Alma, Jacob, Nephi,1,2,3,4, Mormon, Haleman, Mosiah,Ether, etc. That is just nice to read. And all the voilence as well....especially at the end.

The Bible doesn,t has that. For me, the Bible is just confusing to read. Way to complex. And with the Bible i don't have the feeling that i am reading a storie. While with the Book of Mormon i have that feeling a lot more that i am reading a storie. The book of Mormon whas easy for me to read completely from beginning till the end. With the Bible i never accomplished that. I have once (years ago) start reading the Bible old testament but never finist it. I just didn't understand a thing about it.
