Calm Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Thanks, Dario. Things are looking up already as she has recently started using some better technology for her diabetes and we are all just eagerly waiting for the FDA (government agency over drugs and stuff) to approve some software that will make it even better. Could be life changing. 1

Basically creates a closed loop system with her insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor which allows the pump to release insulin as dictated by the monitor rather than it having to be done by the user. This allows insulin to be released as needed in incremental doses as blood sugar rises and falls rather than having the user predict how much insulin they are going to need based on what they ate. If your dad has type 1 diabetes, he may be aware of it already. If he has type 2, he may not need an insulin pump, so no big deal for him.

So in his case he will not even get the software. 😔 But i just know that he struggles a lot with his sugar levels. But even though he does he may not get insulin. He need to eat really healthy without the really sweet foods. No desert no nothing. No potatoes. And he need to take some pills. It is turture for him because he love sweets. 🍩 Edited February 6, 2023 by Dario_M

I miss sugar and occasionally cheat in snitching a candied nut or a cookie here and there, thankfully I am more low amount rather absolutely none at all. I feel tons better over all. I miss salt much more, but try to keep sodium intake to half recommended. My family doesn’t like the aftertaste of the salt substitutes and sometimes meals are a big flop because salt added later just isn’t the same as added during crucial times. For example, we have decided in the future that the salt added to my husband’s practically perfect mashed potatoes qualifies for absolutely needed. Edited February 6, 2023 by Calm

That is interesant to know. 😌 So uhm..you don't eat much sugar anymore because it makes you dizzy??? Do i read that right? In my case i get dizzy if i don't eat much sugar mostely. And i eat wau to much of it hihihi. 🍫 I am getting fat.

Yeah you won't believe it but there is a lot of sugar in white potatoes. If you eat a decent amount of potatoes you blood sugat goes really high. This only counts for white potatoes.🥔 Not sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are a lot more healty also.

If you're diabetic you might want to make sure your body is running off of fat and not carbohydrates. Carbs spike insulin, fat doesn't. Try eating bacon, hamburger, eggs, steak, lamb, goat, bison along with as much of the fat, don't cut off any of the fat, infact, add butter to the steak. If you try a carnivore diet for two or three weeks you'll see a huge improvement after your body adjust to burning your fat reserve. Then you can slowly add in carbs, minimal carbs. No soda, just water, coffee, tea, herbal tea, raw milk. Edited February 7, 2023 by John L

My daughter has to eat enough carbs to require 19 to 25 units of insulin per day. (Actually the dr. said 28.) Type 2’s can handle a keto diet. Edited February 7, 2023 by bsjkki 4

She has had diabetes since she was 12. We hit the 20 year anniversary last year. We know all the variations of diet. John L, What is your experience/training with diabetes that allows you to feel it is wise to give out nutrition advice without any caution to check with their doctor, etc to total strangers on the Internet who may have complications along with the diabetes? Serious question. PS: when doing medical research, videos are pretty useless. I may be interested if given something written and footnoted with studies so I can check to make sure the studies are credible and back up the claims. Edited February 7, 2023 by Calm 6

He is a rock-solid Latter-day Saint who has endured unbelievable hardships. I will PM his Facebook page to you.

More and more Dr's are starting to see the benefits of a keto or carnivore diet for diabetes. What's disgusting is thinking what the medical professionals are doing now for diabetes is the only way to fight the problems people live with on a daily basis. Just because someone is a doctor doesn't mean they know what they're talking about. I started a thread on this subject in the other forum. Start thinking for yourself!

Talk about “thinking for yourself”. This is such a predictable boilerplate response that gets attached to every medical scam I have seen. Does not help your credibility when you respond in this way instead of addressing the issue. Which issue—what gives you any expertise in this field—you have ignored in favour of meaningless ranting against medical professionals (if you are going to rant against professionals, at least put some backbone into it with something besides videos). No one here on the board in my experience is all that fond of doctors in general. I bet we all have our own personal horror stories, but that doesn’t mean nontraditional methods are automatically beneficial or harmless. What makes you think I haven’t done extensive research on this diet, including up close and personal? My mom was trying a variation of it when I was in my teens. I have been doing research into nutrition all my life as my mom was very much into it (used only whole foods , made everything from scratch, soda was a rare treat, refined sugar was limited, etc). I have even tried under doctor’s supervision (and not a doctor’s whose whole livelihood is tied up into promoting the latest fad diet) a variation of this before my disorders got bad and while it can help me with weight loss and with cravings very short term, it screwed up my digestion quite quickly and caused other issues…and that was when my body could handle stress much better than now. I would not recommend this because someone might try it without consulting their doctor and understanding the risks to type 1’s and 2’s. Euglycemic dka is increasing and is very dangerous. One reason for the increase is these diets. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK554570/ 3
