Why So Many Locked Threads?

Recommended Posts

They broke board rules in some fashion; political comments, too personal, derailed from the topic and the opening poster asked for them to be closed are some reasons.

Older threads are automatically locked after a certain time, I think 6 months, probably to avoid people asking questions of posters no longer here or no longer interested in the subject, maybe to avoid inappropriate editing that screws up the conversations.

You know how most folks just quickly skim over the TOS for a site ? That is a bad action here. If you look carefully you might find a rule that even this thread may infringe upon. ( potentially ) The mods sometimes give a lot of leeway, eg , we recently had a thread that violated a rule and went on for several pages.

Reading through the locked threads,  I'm not sure why they were locked.

For example, examine the thread in Social Hall entitled "The Day of Reckoning is Here Revelations 18:23 states" by Dannyg43.

Danny did not read the board rules; that's clear from the post. That thread violates board rules as follows:

  1. It's in the wrong forum, as it isn't social.
  2. It is clearly political.

If I live to old age I expect ballads will be sung of how I lived so long.

Brave Sir Nehor ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Nehor turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Swiftly taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the brave, Sir Nehor!

Bravely kicking the can down the road but never really really solving the problem/issue.

Harsh, but fair. Of course most of the things I kick down the road are unsolvable.
