So therefore better to let sleeping dogs lie and not confront any racism we might be perpetuating on a conscious of subconscious level? No, I am not going to buy that. Also, it is not a Neo-Marxist. Marxism advocates for a destiny that history is inevitably moving towards. No one is suggesting that racism is inevitably going to vanish and suddenly we will enter some golden age or critical racismlessness. It is also not tied to communism. As a Neo-Fascist (since we are just throwing random designations on stuff) I am surprised you are ignorant about this. Should we deconstruct the white supremacy inherent in the western conception of "the order of operations?' LOL... you are such a partisan joke. You embody the typical "progressive." You read only what confirms your existing (and errant) views. It's like you have no awareness of what is actually happening in the real world. Do you think inserting random LOLs is winning or something? Okay, we have a journal entry talking about possibly changing the way math is taught to help get rid of racial disparities in treatment. I am betting you didn’t understand anything it said did you? It is not advocating the abolition of math in favor of teaching CRT itself, just possibly some changes to help minorities learn it better. Nor is it advocating that we change basic addition or order of operations. Your post is an idiotic strawman no one is advocating for and you pounded it into the ground. Well done. Now why don’t you take down Medicare for all by pointing out that sometimes there are wait lists in Canada? Make sure to throw in a lot of LOLs so I fully comprehend how owned I am. -1

Calm Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) The last link, the video, I got up to the part of how racism would be best solved by stopping talking about race. Since the term “race” is a social construct anyway, it is theoretically possible I guess. I just don’t remember any problem in my life or others that actually existed that was taken care of by ignoring it, in essence pretending it didn’t exist. For actual resolution, it has been essential to understand why it exists, so the root cause can be treated rather than just the symptoms. I can sort of see the reasoning…if we eliminated all the various terms for the variations of the colour blue in the world, after some generations we might start disregarding nuances that once were important to us…or maybe we would just find other ways to express them. Yes, and significantly so, during the entire period of legal slavery and during Jim Crowe. Other aspects included redlining in real estate and education. The amazing thing is how quickly all that changed in my lifetime. Those who are too ignorant to have seen it up close and personal, and who never lifted a finger to make changes, now deny that any changes took place -- or that the changes were not significant. They deny the many military generals who are Black, the number of political officials who are Black, etc. They can't even remember Motown Records, or recognize the vast contributions to American society which Black people have made. Three is an entire Black middle class living in so-called white neighborhoods, and some of my dearest compadres in the USMC and in law enforcement were Black, Hispanic, and Asian. I couldn't imagine serving without them. It is an insult to them to continue wallowing in racist categories. 4

No, they aren’t doing that. At least not in any significant numbers.

For actual resolution, it has been essential to understand why it exists, so the root cause can be treated rather than just the symptoms....................... The classic encounter on that was on "60 Minutes" years ago in which Mike Wallace was interviewing actor Morgan Freeman. The subject moved to race, and Freeman wanted to stop talking about it in general. Wallace wondered whether he thought Black History Month was necessary. Freeman asked Wallace if he wanted a White History Month. Wallace, caught by surprise, hesitated and then said that he was Jewish. So Freeman asked: Do you want a Jewish History Month, and Wallace responded No. Freeman then said that he felt the same way about Black History Month. I recall also watching the wonderful film of Shakespeare's "As You Like It," which had Denzel Washington in a central role (Keanu Reeve plays his brother). The colorblind casting worked very well. If you want to watch either, I can give you the URL. 3

Calm Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) I have seen both. Love that version of “As You like it”…but that is not reality. It was also a great production, but that it exists doesn’t mean we can now stop trying to make more fantastic versions of As You Like It, does it? Were family problems solved by watching shows like Father Knows Best and other rather sweet stories? Maybe some, but doubt anyone figured out how to respond to incest or domestic violence when encountering it. The Church does not approach premarital sex by not talking about it even though the ideal is for it not to be happening in our kids’ lives. Because a significant minority of blacks are highly successful, I don’t see that as meaning systemic racism has disappeared any more than there being large numbers of virgins at the time of temple marriages means we have no need to discuss premarital sex with teens or research ways to lower the occurrence. Your example of the colourblind casting in As you like it…does that mirror the reality in availability of acting and directing jobs? Is the difference in numbers primarily a result of less talent among women and POC or could there be another reason? For percentages of jobs filled by women and POC among the top films: https://irle.ucla.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/UCLA-Hollywood-Diversity-Report-2020-Film-2-6-2020.pdf Edited August 15, 2021 by Calm 1

Smith said: Perhaps not, but is has now become very significant to rabble rousers on the extreme Left, and it has become dominant in many universities. And it apparently has you in thrall. No, it hasn’t become significant to rabble rousers on the left. No, it hasn’t become dominant in many universities. Before the current mess I bet if you asked students on any university campus what critical race theory was about 3/4ths of them would have said they had no idea what it was. It has become significant to rabble rousers on the Right who love screaming about it in school board meetings and passing laws against it. Without that almost no one would have ever heard of it. So who it truly “in thrall” to it? I only read about CRT in the early 2010s when I was reviewing a legal case and one legal nerd said it had an impact on a developing idea within Critical Race Theory so I read an article on it, thought it was neat, and moved on. Then I don’t think I thought of it again until recently when suddenly it was a grave threat to everyone’s children for reasons that make no sense. One side dragged the term into the public view, mutilated the concept beyond all recognition, and then turned it into a weapon. Then you come along and claim the people who barely know about it and rarely think about it are obsessed with it and that I am somehow “in thrall” to it. There is a bit of irony there along with a lot of lunacy and ton after ton of projection. Edited August 15, 2021 by The Nehor 1

Calm Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) There are 328 female billionaires in the world…a huge step up from a time when many women couldn’t even own property. https://www.forbes.com/sites/denizcam/2021/04/06/the-top-richest-women-in-the-world-in-2021/?sh=7312464d4598 Does that mean we can stop worrying about poverty affecting women now? If not, at what point do you project it will make sense to lower numbers further by no longer talking about poor widows or single mothers or uneducated teens and young adults in nowhere jobs? https://www.statista.com/statistics/233154/us-poverty-rate-by-gender/ Edited August 15, 2021 by Calm 1
