Flu season starts earlier than this hit us, so it needs to be adjusted for that.  Flu season is fall and winter, peaks in December and January

Oh, I do. I love the movie Dr. Strangelove. One of my favorites. I was objecting to the idea that actual adults would behave differently and start a war. I did not mean to suggest that all leaders fit into the category of emotional adults. In governments that have a democratic process for choosing leaders political office tends to attract a lot of the people who actually like and are interested in popularity contests which is what an election largely is. It explains a lot of the problems such nations experience with their leaders.

There is a lot of variation. In the last ten years the lowest year was 12k and the highest year was 62k. The estimates for the flu season that ended last month according to the CDC is in the range from 24k to 62k deaths. They don’t always finalize numbers until a year or two after the season ends but they narrow the range as they go.

I thought I had been exposed when the bishop reported he had it. The last week before shutdown he was coughing a lot and found out his office had an outbreak. His symptoms never got bad but he tested positive on an antibody test. I was around him a lot that week and decided to get a test. It is kind of strange how disappointing it is to get a negative results on having had a disease. He was probably past the contagious stage that last Sunday which was a good thing if he had it but annoying to me. I know that the tests are imperfect and that immunity is not certain if you had it and I would not change much in my activity except maybe volunteering to prep equipment for the hospitals at work but it would be a bit of a weight off.

Fun Covid fact:

Police are finding a lot more drug money in raids. The lockdown has made it much more difficult to use the usual procedures to launder money so it is often stuck in cash form and busts are finding a lot more of it.
