“In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost."

It seems to me that is a very core tenant of the LDS faith that the Holy Spirit testifies of truth. It's the cornerstone of their epistemology.

Personal revelation is indeed the rock upon which we are founded. We quote Moroni 10:4-5 as the authority for this tenant, but hardly anyone mentions verses 3, 6, and 7 which clarify and expand our understanding of role of the Holy Spirit in teaching and testifying of the truth.

Quote

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
6 And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.
7 And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.

Tenet =/= Tenant.

Just sayin'! ;)

(Or, as the great Colonel Potter of M*A*S*H fame once said, "I didn't know tennis was a religion." :D)

Stargazer: I want you to know how much your saying this has ministered to me. Thank you so very much. I have been very down the last three weeks with a bad infection that has impacted me in many ways. I so missed not going to ward on Easter Sunday. My dear wife has been amazing in taking care of me as I have lost 25 pounds in less than three weeks. I have to drive to our little clinic every day to get an injection and it is all discouraging. Your one comment made me smile; I went running into the kitchen to tell my wife. She looked at me like, "What just happened to you?" A kindness just happened to me. Thank you ever so much!

You're very welcome -- and deserving.  I am glad that what I wrote was helpful!

I have no idea how to respond to this post. I must first "show a true desire to learn the things of God . . . because God will not be mocked by those who do not hold His oracles sacred?" I have no words to express how saddened I am by this reply. I don't have a testimony of some of the truths of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I don't have a true desire to learn the things of God and because I mock God. Wow! So sad. I guess I have nothing more to say on this topic, except that I find it an interesting church that blames and devalues the commitment of its seekers (and not even one by one) for not coming up with the right answer to a question that obviously has only one correct answer. Any and all other answers indicate a fault in the seeker, and in this case, terrible faults.

Navidad, you shouldn't be say, but should be honored that you live in a time when God will answer you, and that God is plainly revealing more truth details than He has previously through His Son, Yeshua. He came to make the law honorable, and so I honor Him. He opened the eyes of the blind to the law. Yet, still some things remained hidden, and expressly so. That is all I am saying. God would not answer a prayer to reveal the things of Daniel 10-12 until the proper time came. It was sealed up until the time of the end. To be saddened by that really makes no sense. Be glad that you have more truth to be able to worship Him in truth and in power. I have not implied you have any faults - you take that upon yourself. If you do have faults, they are no more than my own as I continue to learn about God since being a youth. I wish you all the best.
