SL Temple is certainly more convenient, not just to homes but to their offices as well.  But, I think that if temple patrons knew that the Brethren were using their temple as a holy meeting place, they would give them the space and reverence to enter/exit without too much ado.

I don't know about the temples in the SL Valley but the our temple (Denver) is a very quiet place on weekdays (outside of the prime wedding weeks).

I recall reading a book where it talked about President Benson and his wife attending the Jordan River temple.  They would enter and exit through a side door.

I hadn't heard of an extended closure on the SL Temple but it is my understanding that they close each temple every few decades for an extended period (something longer than the more common 2-3 month closures) for major upgrades, maintenance, and renovations.  Still I think whether it is 3, 4, or 5 years as a planned closure - that's probably longer than most.  This is understandable considering the age and side of the edifice and does seem worthy of at least a mention in Gen Con (whereas other temple closures don't usually get such a comment).

Yes, longer than most, but renovations for years is not unheard of.  Mesa temple is planned for 2 years.  Other temples have taken years as well.  And it is possible that someone added in the time before the renovation was to start which is still more than a year away at the minimum so that could easily stretch to 3-5 years.  Who knows.

Why are you asking if they’ll have access to the celestial room? Every temple has a celestial room. 

Were you perhaps referring to the council room where the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve hold their Thursday meetings?

I don't know specifically about this, but I do know there is quit a bit of underground tunnels connecting things as I have been in them.  I'm just not sure what all connects to what.

Anyone know if they are going to maintain live sessions for the SLC temple or move it to films? I believe it's one of the few - and perhaps only one now - that still does live sessions.

In the first of my two posts, I asked who you were posing the question to, because I really wondered whether you expected there would be someone here who could give you anything better than recycled rumor. 

In my second post, I asked you to clarify your question because it appeared to me you were using some terminology improperly. As it happens, I was right.

So you weren't interested in attempting to answer a question, only fault finding for use of an improper term? That's what I thought.

OK, I’ll take a stab. 

I just don’t see a problem. About a year ago, I was privileged to be part of a private tour of the Church Administration Building in Salt Lake. From that, I know there is ample meeting space therein where the First Presidency and  Quorum of the Twelve could temporarily hold their weekly meetings. 

If a more solemn location is needed, they could use a nearby temple, perhaps in Bountiful, or one of the two in South Jordan, or the one in Draper or in Ogden or American Fork, or one of the two in Provo. I recall that some of the older, “pioneer temples” even have the traditional assembly room with the rostrums on either end, like the ones in the Salt Lake and Kirtland temples. 

I’ve covered enough temple dedications to know how efficient Church Security is at getting Church leaders into a temple while controlling public access to or even awareness of their presence.
