Although we are generally at odds when it come to economics and politics, Robert is a fine fellow, and I respect him a lot. So I am sorry, Robert, this just made me laugh my freaking head off. 😂 I have seldom run into so such a well-crafted verbal wrestling move. I don't really think that @Robert F. Smith teaches for doctrine the commandments of men, at least in regards to gospel principles. I think we can agree to disagree on economic systems, however, and perhaps even agree a little bit that economic systems built on the exercise of free agency are to be preferred to those built on compulsion. I was serious. Not intended to insult or jibe. Is @Robert F. Smith the same who wrote this: https://www.amazon.com/Teaching-Doctrines-Commandments-Men-Tradition/dp/1519103719 Helped me immensely come closer to the scriptures and to my Savior. 1

The prerequisites for certification is a high school diploma or GED, and it also requires enough English proficiency to take and pass the certification courses and exam. Most illegal immigrants would not qualify, not that they couldn't, but they don't. Yes, they do have some basic medical training. CNA's only make about $25K/ year. It would be completely unethical to pay them any less to make assisted living facilities more affordable. I don't see how building cheap facilities for the elderly on the backs of cheap illegal labor is an ethical business plan. CNA's are already WAY under payed and under appreciated.

My degree would suddenly much more valuable but wishing that to be so would also make me a terrible person. Does it make me a bad person to want order and legal immigration through the proper channels? Does it make me a bad person to reject the idea of no-borders? Have you really thought through what that would mean? Look, I too love the idea of a united order, but don't you think it a bit premature? Open borders won't work for anyone. Well, sorry about that. It was the best gotcha I had heard (or thought I heard) all week! I obviously was missing something. So, this Robert Smith book you're referring to is @Robert F. Smith, or some other Bob Smith? Edited June 29, 2018 by Stargazer

OK, now I'm confused -- or, since that might be my normal state, more confused -- but are you Robert Farrell Smith?

No, Robert Farrell Smith (1970- ) is a much younger guy who writes funny novels, and one of them has even been produced as a film. This other guy, Rob Smith (1983 - ), is younger still and writes gospel books, and even has a blog called "Upward Thought" -- he is also an excommunicant -- apparently for his book on Teaching for Doctrine the Commandments of Men.

I worked as a near minimum wage grunt in a low cost retirement home while in college. They were not mostly CNAs. I will consider starting one. That is where the money is going to be. Sorry, I thought we were talking about assisted living facilities where they need assistance with activities of daily living (ADL’s). At retirement homes the residents are entirely independent and don’t live there because they can’t live on their own, they live there because they can afford the lifestyle. Retirement homes are an indulgence for those who have money, they are not a societal need. We really don’t, and never will need cheap retirement facilities, and therefore do not need illegal immigrants filling any any under-paid cheap labor there. You are right though, that is where the money is at!
