Marcelo, I could put together a website just as fancy looking as this and claim whatever I wanted, regardless of facts.  You actually have Brazilian members who are upset about the information?  Better look out, because when Elder Nelson becomes President of the Church, no doubt his net worth will astonish and amaze people everywhere.

Let's see.

This information comes from a commercial company in India.  Home of call centers -- and last week we got about five calls from there claiming to be Microsoft concerned about malware on our computer.  Looking at their website they have an entire section dedicated to wealth assessments for various famous people. There is no way of knowing how much of their information is true, and I'm not impressed by their claim that that they have researched all these people.  I checked out some samples, including Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich, and a few others.  I note that much of the biographical information in every case is from Wikipedia. Wording on much of everything is in somewhat stilted English, and appears to have been generated by some kind of data processing software.  Most but not all articles have this sentence in the section on cars: "[Celebrity Name] owns few of the best luxury cars in the world."  The website as a whole contains a plethora of various kinds of information and every page is covered in advertisements.

There is no indication on this website who is behind it, but a person named Pratap Reddy owns the domain registration, and the domain was created in 2016 using GoDaddy.  We could email him and ask him about his information, since his email address is given in the domain registration.  Also his phone number.  The website is hosted by Cloudflare, a US-based web hosting service that is fairly prominent and offers hosting plans starting at free and going up to enterprise -- they host for many individuals and companies, big and small.

Examine this page: https://finapp.co.in/ipcc-failed-9-attempts/ and this one https://finapp.co.in/cma-final-exam-form/.   Every single page on this site is designed to attract visitors seeking information on various unrelated subjects, such as financial licensing exams, chemical engineering exams, information on Indian cell-phone companies and their plans, Indian laws on corporations, and so on.

My assessment of this website is that it is designed and intended to attract visitors from Google and other search engines for the purpose of showing them advertising and earning money based on that.  They seem to be using Google Adwords to a large extent.  Advertising on pages does not seem to have anything to do with a page's content, but in my case at least to be purely based on a visitor's recent Amazon searches.  I will say that a lot of work went into this site, but I doubt the accuracy of the data regarding wealth, which probably originated from some other source, or was made up on the spot.  No serious financial firm would register a domain under an individual's name, and then not protect the information by paying a little extra fee to mask who owned the registration -- and give a Gmail address for contact, for crying out loud.

The International Business Times would seem to be a somewhat more reliable source of information, and their numbers except for salary, seem nowhere near the amounts in the finapp article.  The only Monson-owned property they indicate is worth in the neighborhood of 350K.  My crappy home in Olympia, Washington is worth 250K.  Yep, the man was extremely rich, for sure.

$12 million dollars net worth? Poppycock.

Hopefully Marcelo sees this as their profile indicates they haven't been back since Monday.

Hugh W. Pinnock made a statement in April 1980 General Conference that does not differentiate between general authorities and lay clegy.

I could not find any general conference talk that discussed the "modest living allowance" of the general authorities.

On the LDS Newsroom page there is a blog about "The Church's Unpaid Clergy." I could not find a blog about the "modest living allowance."

There are some paragraphs in some lessons that mention the "modest living allowance,"

IMO more people know about the unpaid clergy claim than know about the GA stipend.

Which is as it should be, since the unpaid clergy "claim," i.e. fact, applies to vastly more people than the GA stipend does.

It doesn't bother me really.  I am just saying that it has been a perception (IMO) of a lot of older members that all leaders were relatively unpaid.  I have found out a lot of things that I previously thought was wrong...this is why I resigned..:P

You resigned because members of the Church had misunderstandings about things? This reminds me of the guy who left the church because as a missionary he couldn't believe that people were consigned to hell for rejecting tracting missionaries at their door. Well, the Church does not teach that people who turn away missionaries at their door are going to hell. But some people in the Church have that ridiculous notion and that makes other people think it's a doctrinal teaching when it's not.

I grew up constantly and only hearing about the stipend or "living allowance." I never heard, "General authorities are not paid." To hear that some people believe general authorities don't get paid at all strikes me as rather odd. But there are all sorts of misunderstandings that members have but that shouldn't trip another person up.

No offense meant. I'm merely trying to understand if someone left the Church because they saw that other members had misunderstandings. And I am asking because I concede that I may not be understanding clearly what was going on. Having said all that nobody is under any obligation to respond.

I went last week to Rio (niece's marriage), but I reading all the comments. The information from "Calm", regarding the website was very helpful. We have here in Brazil (like in US) those members who like to find faults in our beloved leaders. I just like to have more correct and precise information in order to help them understand to not rely in anything that they read in the internet. I´d like to know if Pres. Monson owns any car at all, I think that in his old alge he only uses the cars from the Church fleet, am I wrong?

The company for which I work contracts to provide in-vehicle on-demand services for Lexus subscriber-drivers.  The service I provide is Destination Assist.  While customers are free to program GPSes themselves, to ensure the safety of the motoring public, they can press a button in the car and we will do it for them.

I'm certainly not on such terms with President Monson's [now former] driver that I would recognize his voice, and I haven't noticed any incoming calls from accounts registered to Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  And I haven't received any calls such as, "Hello, this is [Name], driver for President Thomas S. Monson, President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  We would like to go ..."

I'm disappointed! :(

I need another help from you, Americans. Now some Brazilians are questioned the value of the cars from the Church fleet. Could anyone who works at the Church Office knows this information? Or could you identify the cars below and estimate their value? Some crazy guys are telling that these cars cost more than USD 80K, I think that they are wrong, could help?Resultado de imagem para monson cars

Well the first car looks like about a 2002 Lincoln Continental worth about 5k, the second car looks like a 2017 Buick LaCrosse worth about 25k.

Value of cars depends on both upfront costs and maintenance.

Many years ago someone who worked with or knew someone who worked with the Church's car fleet explained on a board like this one that a choice was made by the Church's car people to buy a more expensive car based on estimated repair and replacement costs (they would be lasting much longer and with less cost for upkeep and repairs than cheaper cars).  Unfortunately there was sufficient outcry from some who saw them being driven around they had to turn them in and replace them with cheaper cars. (I trusted the source, but it could be a Mormon folklore being passed around, still useful principle)

Remind these members that a cheaper car that has to be replaced every few years because it is no longer reliable or costs too much to fix and has a low tradein value is going to cost more than a car that is three times as expensive but lasts more than three times as long and has fewer repair costs, etc.

That is not to say every expensive car is cheaper in the long run than a cheaper car, it just means there is more to calculating costs than the price tag.

He was a best selling author, but to your comment in "green", who said he did not get a salary? Also it is considered bad form to the post of someone else, even if only in font size.

Well 90k for a car isn't all that much, have you priced a Chevy Suburban recently,? 90K won't buy you a 5,6 or 7 series BMW but it will buy you a Benz station wagon. Those numbers aren't all that eyeopening. I have built houses for literally hundreds, maybe thousands of people worth that or more. 150k a year isn't enough money to live in the Bay Area and have a family. The guy was over 90 years old that is 2 life times of managing your money

He said didn't  received any salary yet does .

Lying is intentionally deceiving others. Bearing false witness is one form of lying. The Lord gave this commandment to the children of Israel: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour” (Exodus 20:16). Jesus also taught this when He was on earth (see Matthew 19:18). There are many other forms of lying. When we speak untruths, we are guilty of lying. We can also intentionally deceive others by a gesture or a look, by silence, or by telling only part of the truth. Whenever we lead people in any way to believe something that is not true, we are not being honest.

Abraham 2 : 22 And it came to pass when I was come near to enter into Egypt, the Lord said unto me: Behold, Sarai, thy wife, is a very fair woman to look upon;

23 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say—She is his wife; and they will kill you, but they will save her alive; therefore see that ye do on this wise:

24 Let her say unto the Egyptians, she is thy sister, and thy soul shall live.

25 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.

That spitefully dishonest bit of cherry-picking doesn't say what you pretend it means, and you know it.

Not only was President Monson a better man than you are, he's still a better man than you are.

You fabricate accusations you know to be false.

I did not..perhaps we all need a reminder around here..yes me!!  That we shouldn't judge one another.  We don't get to say who is better than someone else.

A couple oth things. First, just as with most persons, they come into money from Parents. Then of course their is the most common way, and that being income. In the case of the late President Monson, he worked in a profession, then became a General Authority. General Authorities such as the Presiding Bishopric, other full time GA's and most especially Apostles and Prophets or President, are not "paid ministers" in the strictest sense. They are "the officers, and administration for a world wide orginazation. An organization that has a responsibility to it's members, but also is engaged in world wide charities that help the lives of millions who are not members. They are full time employees of the Church. President Monson, at his age, and with his salary and book royalties, at the age of 90, would have easily amassed 12 million dollars in net worth. But, my guess you are not looking for this as an answer? So, what are you fishing for?

If we can't confidently say that President Monson is better than an accuser who has no regard for truth, then it doesn't seem that we can say anything at all.

Is it that you don't have a problem with Josh's accusation because you align with his position more readily than mine?
