Building mortal into God

I don't buy that premise either.  But I do question the historicity of the story telling we get from the NT, to some extent and another.

If you don't buy that premise, then why do you seem to be arguing that it doesn't matter what church/religion you belong to?

I am not sure what you are questioning in regards to what I said about the NT.  Do you question that Christ and his apostles proselytized and baptized?  If you believe they did, why does it matter?  Why did they think it important?  What benefit is it in the end if it doesn't matter what church/religion we belong to?

Mostly as a thought experiment as related to Mormonism.  I hear all the time, as the OP indicates, all the reasons why being Mormon is best, why it benefits.  But in the end, I see tons of people who aren't Mormon who are just as good or better than the Mormons I go to Church with.  Does Church build us?  Is it supposed to?  I'm not so sure.

Well, I'm not going to get off topic now.  I'll leave that for another time.

I mean your perception is your perception, your experience is your experience, but I'd wager whatever is more to you is had by many outside the Church as well.

Mate, what else can we know except for our personal experiences? It sounds to me like you want me to reject my personal experiences based on your hypothetical, which I have not experienced. That sounds like a pretty bad deal to me.

God doesn't leave all without just because they have no dealings with the Church, I'd guess.

More guessing. This time I agree with you, though based solidly in personal experience. If you'll read it carefully, you'll note that I agreed with you in my earlier post as well. This is not an 'all or nothing' proposition.

It feels like the benefit you describe can be had by anyone, in any walk of life, without the Church.

It 'feels' like that because you've actually experienced it? Or are you just constructing another hypothetical in your mind and imbuing it with pseudo-experiential substance because you think/hope/want it to be the case?

So while it's good for you, is it really a benefit or is it you just perceive it as a benefit without really knowing if it really is.

Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

But if true, then we'd see a marked difference in members who have more, as you put it, then those who are out fo the Church.  I simply don't see it.  do you?

Yes, absolutely. See it. Experience it, both individually and collectively. Why else would I be a Church member?

An awful lot of strong women have left the church..of course..that makes them weak??  In my opinion, if humility is sufficient..greatness will cease to exist.

What God considers great, the natural man despises. What the world abhors, God considers great.
