LittleNipper
Lo, how a Rose e'er blooming from tender stem hath sprung! Of Jesse's lineage coming, as men of old have sung. It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter, When half spent was the night. Isaiah 'twas foretold it, the Rose I have in mind; Mary we behold it, the Virgin Mother kind. To show God's love aright, she bore to us a Savior, When half spent was the night. The shepherds heard the story proclaimed by angels bright, How Christ, the Lord of glory was born on earth this night. To Bethlehem they sped and in the manger they found Him, As angel heralds said. This Flower, whose fragrance tender with sweetness fills the air, Dispels with glorious splendor the darkness everywhere; True man, yet very God, from sin and death He saves us, And lightens every load. LittleNipper
I Wonder as I Wander I wonder as I wander out under the skyHow Jesus the Savior did come for to dieFor poor on'ry people like you and like I;I wonder as I wander out under the skyWhen Mary birthed Jesus 'twas in a cow's stallWith wise men and farmers and shepherds and allBut high from God's heaven, a star's light did fallAnd the promise of ages it then did recall. If Jesus had wanted for any wee thingA star in the sky or a bird on the wingOr all of God's Angels in heaven to singHe surely could have it, 'cause he was the KingI wonder as I wander out under the skyHow Jesus the Savior did come for to dieFor poor on'ry people like you and like I;I wonder as I wander out under the sky Edited December 11, 2016 by LittleNipper Link to comment

LittleNipper
What Sweeter Music What sweeter music can we bring Than a carol, for to sing The birth of this our heavenly King? Awake the voice! Awake the string! Dark and dull night, fly hence away, And give the honor to this day, That sees December turned to May. Why does the chilling winter's morn Smile, like a field beset with corn? Or smell like a meadow newly-shorn, Thus, on the sudden? Come and see The cause, why things thus fragrant be: 'Tis He is born, whose quickening birth Gives life and luster, public mirth, To heaven, and the under-earth. We see him come, and know him ours, Who, with his sunshine and his showers, Turns all the patient ground to flowers. The darling of the world is come, And fit it is, we find a room To welcome him. The nobler part Of all the house here, is the heart. Which we will give him; and bequeath This holly, and this ivy wreath, To do him honour, who's our King, And Lord of all this revelling. What sweeter music can we bring, Than a carol for to sing The birth of this our heavenly King? LittleNipper
He is born, the divine Christ child Play on the oboe and bagpipes merrily He is born, the divine Christ child Sing we all of the Saviour's birth. Through long ages of the past Prophets have foretold his coming Through long ages of the past Now the time has come at last. Oh, how lovely, oh, how pure Is this perfect child of heaven Oh, how lovely, oh, how pure Gracious gift of God, to man. Jesus, Lord of all the world Coming as a child among us Jesus, Lord of all the world Grant to us Thy heav'nly peace. About this song: "He is born, Christ the divine child" is based on a traditional French carol, "Il est ne, le divin Enfant". bluebell
As far as classic Christmas carols go, I love Silver Bells and Carol of the Bells. My favorite non-classic Christmas song is One Night a Year by Barbara Mandrell. Edited December 19, 2016 by bluebell 1 Link to comment
