Tacenda Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 http://radiowest.kuer.org/post/ghost-eternal-polygamy If anyone is interested, Carol Lynn Pearson is on the show today at 11:00 speaking about her book...here's the intro: The LDS Church ended the practice of polygamy more than a century ago, but author and activist Carol Lynn Pearson says the idea is “alive and unwell” in Mormon theology. According to doctrine, a man can still be spiritually sealed to multiple wives and those plural marriages are a reality in heaven. Pearson has gathered stories from more than 8000 faithful and former LDS Church members, and joins Doug Tuesday to explain why she says polygamy is still haunting Mormons today. Carol Lynn Pearson is a writer, poet, and playwright. Among herbooks are No More Goodbyes: Circling the Wagons Around Our Gay Loved Ones [Indiebound|Amazon] and her newest The Ghost of Eternal Polygamy: 1

Captain Moroni Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 The most discussed and least understood ordinance, doctrine and practice in our faith is the "Sealing". What it means can really only be described like this: When a King (i.e The King of Kings) (i.e. The Lord Jesus Christ) or any Temporal "King" certifies, authenticates or approves of something, a drop of wax was placed on the parchment and The King would press his ring into the wax to make an impression. This impression is unique to him and him alone and it is the ratification of the document. Case in point, to be "Sealed" by Temple Marriage means just that. The Lord Himself i.e The King of Kings has Authenticated and Approved the Act and Document. meaning that it is binding out of this life as well as within the mortal life. Ironically the words "If you are true and faithful" are included in this ordinance. Indicating that HE THE LORD has the right to remove it from you. Under what conditions one might ask? Those conditions are numerous. however what is the point in identifying them here? How does this tie into Polygamy? My Great Great Grandfather had 7 wives and children from all seven. According to his journal he says relative the the Manifesto "Yesterday I was told that the only way I could obtain exhaltation was to have multiple wives. I love all of my sweethearts and all of my children the same... Today the Prophet told me I would be excommunicated for having them. I see no reconciliation in this new doctrine. This I shall carry on providing for my families and The Lords Will be what it may. I shall not abandon my family." I see no justification to bad mouth the practice of Polygamy based on selfish ideals. "He's Mine and Mine Alone!" How about the other side of the arguement? "How do I provide for multiple families and ensure that all feel an equal portion of love under my care?" I have a hard enough time with one wife. A second one would be a proverbial nightmare. However, if they were able to co-operate how could they support each other and enable me to do more work? just my 2 cents
