Bill “Papa” Lee Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Moments ago my wife calls me into the kitchen, when she called I could hear in her voice a serious tone, so I went in quickly. She then relayed the news she had just received, a Sister with whom we attended Church for many years had dropped by her daughters house for a visit. At the end of the visit this, dear Sister backed up her car striking her two year old granddaughter, killing her! When you hear of such horrible stories it is heartbreaking and gut wrenching...when it is someone you know, it is hard to even breathe! There are events in life, so horrific at times, it is hard to find answers, because you know not, what to ask. Is there a bigger question to ask, than the question; Why? Especially when that question is more like; WHY! I think that as much as we struggle to ask or pray the question; Why? I think that even God struggles with the answers He must give, leaving others to mourn for both heaven and earth. So,what do you say, what do you do, for what do you pray, and how does the answer come?
Tacenda Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I've seen this in the local news, it happens all the time. I believe recently it was a grandparent just like this case. I don't think God had anything to do with it. Life just happens like that. I'm so sorry this has happened to someone closer than just being on the news, though it's tough to see or hear of no matter what. It is my biggest fear in life, either for me doing it or my children. I can't imagine how horrible it would be. I remember a few years back a neighbor hit a child, but now can't even remember all the details, your post made me think of it. I've been trying to remember to walk behind my van, each time I go to pull out of my garage. Just today I walked around it and thought I was safe, and when I got in and started to pull out my little neighbor boy was a couple of feet from getting behind me. He comes over to ask to play in my yard with his older brothers. So even though I had taken the time to walk behind, he got in there fast, but luckily not directly behind. I hope one day every vehicle will be equipped with rear cameras. 3

The Nehor Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I call that every day....the part about not knowing why every day not experiencing a horrible tragedy every day.

True, but it never stops us from asking, pleading and crying the question out loud. But when things are truly horrific, I am not sure if the answer would be enough.
Meadowchik Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) One thing that hit me at age 18 is that neither I nor my family are immune from bad things happening. They can even happen to the most righteous. Sometimes it can happen because of an extremely brief distraction or lapse in good sense, with disastrous consequences. Thus, when someone is driving out of my driveway while my littles are outside, everything else gets out on hold. Full stop. Caution taught, even then, we send our children out into the world with fear and trembling but also hope. I imagine it must mirror this if they pass, we must hold to hope that God is with them and they are well. Edited August 9, 2016 by Meadowchik 1
Jeanne Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 My heart breaks for this Sister. Hopefully, friends and family also rally around her and remind her always that this was an accident. She will surely need some counseling..at least I know I would. Although most difficult, she will need to somehow forgive herself. I just can't imagine. Love to all! Pain like this does not discriminate. 1
