Duncan Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 My Mum casually mentioned, to me today, that this active guy in their ward got put into the EQ Pres. in Church recently and his wife just gave birth a few weeks ago. They also got married in Dec. but how is that possible? is discipline for fornication not a thing anymore?
Popular Post flameburns623 Posted March 28, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 28, 2016 An awful lot of speculation. Perhaps they confessed their indiscretions months ago and were disciplined but the discipline was lifted after they married. Perhaps only the young lady was the transgressor and the infant is not the offspring of the young man. Perhaps the Bishop had an oversight. Perhaps this one is no one's busines on a message board. 10

Or perhaps the pregnancy had resulted from a rape. 1

I got informal probation for a couple of months for passing out at a dance when I was 16! but I never had relations with anyone! rape maybe but I am not privy to that info. This is the 2nd time I have heard of this happening in our stake
flameburns623 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Duncan, your title question was fair, but your actual opening post shades into gossip and the mods might deem it too "too" as they used to say.

strappinglad Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I can just imagine what the members of the synagogue were saying about Joseph and Mary. As for the OP, I suppose one could always ask the participants for the whole story. Are you good at MMA , Duncan ? 3

I thought that was the secret purpose of his OP in first place, to catch us finding fault with the birth of Jesus Christ. He succeeded.
Garden Girl Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) I suppose it is possible for a person to lie while breaking the Law of Chastity and fool a bishop or stake pres... but... God will not be mocked... GG Edited March 28, 2016 by Garden Girl 2

But from your Mom's lips to your ears to our eyes, the OP becomes backbiting and rumor-mongering. It is the specificity of your OP to a personal situation (about which we may have insufficient information) which raises my concern. Edited March 28, 2016 by flameburns623 1

What is your purpose in gossiping about it on a discussion board, even though you're feigning innocence and anonymity? You seem to think they "got away with" having pre-marital sex without (in your eyes) appropriate consequences. Are you jealous? Have some need to sit in judgment not only of them, but also of those who have stewardship over them? You have no idea what process they have gone through, how long they may have been working with their bishop, etc. Nor should you, because - once again - it is not your business. If he has been given a calling, clearly his bishop has deemed him worthy for such, and I am willing to make an educated guess that they both have gone through some pain and suffering to get to this point. People engaging in malicious gossip and speculation will bring about more pain. It is simply none of your business - names or no names. 3
