When will Marco Rubio be Excommunicated?

According to Rubio's biography he never formally resigned or had his name removed.  Baptized Catholic as a child then converting to Mormonism as a child in his teen he reimbraced the religion of his birth.

One of the grounds for excommunication* is joining and embracing another religion...so like Dehlin, Callerwoods, Waterman and company, when will Marco Rubio be excommunicated?

  1. Apostasy: refers to members who "repeatedly act in clear, open, and deliberate public opposition to the Church or its leaders" and also includes those who repeatedly present information as church doctrine that is not church doctrine and those who repeatedly follow the teachings of apostate sects or those who formally join another church. Merely failing to attend church meetings does not qualify as apostasy.[13] In November 2015, the church clarified that its members who are in a same-sex marriage are in apostasy.[14]

Marco Rubio? was he active when he joined the Catholic Church? if he wasn't then I wouldn't see why the Church would raise a fuss

Unless he is gay, then they seek him out.

that sounds like a witch hunt to me, maybe different stakes do different things but I don't see at least our stake going after and exing inactive members for junk

I would not have believed it if I had not seen it. Long time inactive gay woman sought out for disciplinary council.

There is Currently a purging taking place of legally married gay couples who haven't darkened the doors of a church in decades...yet they're being served summons to church courts...so yes it's happening

must be a local thing, we have a few gay members who are active and nothing has happened to them but they aren't SSM mind you, we have a High Councilor who attends the catholic Church and nothing has happened to that guy

Who does more damage to the good name of the Church: Cliven Bundy and his Captain Moroni son or married gay couples who don't even go to church?

Edit to add: This must be something being done regionally or by stake. My husband, a bishop, has not heard anything about it. I'm so glad we are in this 6 years and must be this close to getting released.

I personally know of 2 separate couples served just this week in separate stakes in Utah...what would prompt this.  Neither couple have been active members for years

I'm not sure there's much value in such a juxtaposition.  These things are generally left to local leaders to address.

Thanks,

Let's just take it as a rhetorical question. And I'd think that handling all of these matters locally is by far the best, except maybe someone on the national radar, for days and weeks on end.

Hey, Johnnie Cake, be careful.  Rubio may be the next President of the USA, or, at least, the third Mormon candidate to run for the Presidency.

If they have not gone to church in decades, how would the church even know they are legally married?
