If you forgive my turn of phrase. It also gives ammunition that oppose the Church.

I'm not sure if i'm understanding your correctly because i think you left out a word or two, but the group was already in the news using BOM verses as it's justification.  I heard about how the mormons were supporting the oregon take over hours before the church put out a statement just from Yahoo news.  I don't think the news release gave anyone any ammunition.

When one takes into account their prior successes in Nevada you see a beginning of a movement to stick it to the iron fist of an over bearing federal goverment that tramples on the Freedoms of its subjects.

By success you mean largely being ignored?

When I say success I mean success. They successfully turned back a (nuclear) armed federal goverment. Making global news isn't being ignored.

Being ignored is what the liberal media does with black on white violence and their race baiting with white on black violence.

They turned back the government because the government did not want to kill them all. He still owes over a million in fines. I expect they will come collect eventually, probably when he does not have a "militia" around. Hardly a success.

By your weird standard Occupy Wall Street was a success because the government did not fire a tactical nuke at them.

Note to self:  What have I learned from this thread?

Modern day LDS and the Q15 don't think its a good Idea to liken the scriptures unto ourself and follow Captian Moroni's lead in dealing with an oppresive/neglectful Federal Government and  it's not a good idea to threaten armed inserection ever.

So much for "studying the scriptures".

The Anti-Mormons are already out in force claiming the Bundy fools represent LDS Scripture and doctrine.

There is already legal Constitutional means to change governmental actions. It's called VOTING. Armed rebellion to overthrown the US government is a major felony. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail without bloodshed. The Confederate south tried that in the 1860's and it didn't work out too well for them.

Yes, because of what the AP has printed. Not because of the newsroom release.

Comes from Alma 59

Chapter 59

Moroni asks Pahoran to strengthen the forces of Helaman—The Lamanites take the city of Nephihah—Moroni is angry with the government. About 62 B.C.

Especially chapter 60

Chapter 60

Moroni complains to Pahoran of the government’s neglect of the armies—The Lord suffers the righteous to be slain—The Nephites must use all of their power and means to deliver themselves from their enemies—Moroni threatens to fight against the government unless help is supplied to his armies. About 62 B.C.

that doesn't change the fact that he was acting as the government in doing so. Where is their authority to act officially?

Don't these people have lives and jobs, kids, family? If my spouse wanted to play dress up and carry a gun in Oregon as soon as they left I'd be phoning Mental Health services

Didn't say it was because of what the Church did. Just that the Anti's use the Bundy fools actions to attack the Church.

You missed the part where Moroni got new information and found out the government was not oppressive or neglectful. If you are going to stick to such a direct correlation then you should liken that unto yourself and go and do likewise.
