KevinG Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Every time I read the Rainbow Bridge poem about reuniting with lost pets I wryly think about the stampede of loved fur kids that will be hurtling towards me in the afterlife. I have had dreams of mountain castles, and flowered plains... but in all of my dreams of heaven there is one constant. All my friends are family, and all my family are friends, and we are all together loving and raising our vast progeny.

I find that the people most interested in heaven are the ones who actually have some idea how to bring it here on earth and those who think nothing of heaven rarely know how make the earth better. It's only a theory, but perhaps gold, diamonds and other things of beauty are valued so much by mortals because it reminds us, deep down, of what we saw in premortality. Or perhaps the visions show these things because they wish to portray things beyond our understanding as a way of showing us their beauty. But I don't think they should be taken literally. Other descriptions talk about what's under Christ's feet as "amber," which can be even a richer color than gold. Besides the beauty of the cities, the landscape is described as lush with flowers of many colors and an overwhelming feeling of peace. Some talk about spotted cats, lions and other beautiful creations (sorry, dogs seem to mostly be in the Terrestrial Kingdom, and if you like gerbils, you want to check out "Visions of The Telestial Kingdom," Ensign, April 2012). The best thing of all, though, is that we'll be able to look like anyone we want.

The big difference between the giant redwoods on Earth and the Telestial Kingdom is that if you keep walking far enough, you'll eventually run into a Wal*Mart. Just can't remember which has the Wal*Marts. Anyway, I'm more into the cats, colors and elevator music of the Spirit World than the redwood forests and the Gulf Stream wa-ah-ters! which are a bit strong in the greens and browns to suit me. But I'm sure there's enough to go around.

But I'm sure there's enough to go around. In Crescent City just north of there at the Apple Peddler they make the best blackberry cobbler, I’m sure the Lord would enjoy a bowl with some ice cream.

Ahab Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Like the Earth is now with different climates and plants, including lush forests as well as deserts as well as snowy regions and icy regions, etc, but with people intelligent enough to avoid pollution problems while having an abundance of all good things which everybody gets to enjoy with no poor among them. I plan to have places to live in every region, with my favorite place being on a high mountain at the edge of a lush forest with a large field for farming and with a view of everything including an ocean and river below with snow in the winter.

The Lord worries me a little when he talks about leveling the mountains and raising the valleys in the Millennium. (Seems like a great description of Kansas, yeesh!) Temperate climate, so no snow, and we'll have to close the New York Hill Cumorah. Niagara Falls will likely have graduated declining water parks. Yeah, boy! I can hardly wait. But getting back to the Celestial Kingdom 🌞, if the Telestial Kingdom 🌌 is going to be beyond all human understanding, figuring out what the Terrestrial Kingdom 🌙 is going to be the hard one to figure out. Celestial Kingdom: Molten sea of glass, but will be on a level we can't even conceive of. Inheritors of that kingdom will most likely see it as radiating amber, with cities that are beyond our comprehension. Inhabitants will be channeling huge amounts of energy. Roads? Who'll need em? Transportation will most likely be instantaneous. Most likely no animals at that level, but who knows? Terrestrial Kingdom: Beautiful beyond anything seen on Earth, but there will be a conglomeration of elements which the inhabitants will be able to alter and change at will. What kind of work will the inhabitants do? Don't have a clue. May take part in lesser aspects of the creation process. Transportation also will be possible without vehicles, including celestial travel, but not as sophisticated as with the Celestials. Learning will be interactive and inhabitants will have a great deal of power, far beyond their imagination, to do what's required of them. Telestial Kingdom: World will be incredibly beautiful, but inhabitants will not enjoy the same power over the elements as in higher kingdoms. Travel and communication will likely require sophisticated tools, but will be instantaneous. May work as envoys to other Telestial worlds. Progression may be possible to much higher levels, but not to Terrestrial levels. Will be light years ahead of anything conceived of on now on Earth. But what I'm most curious about is: Sons of Perdition/Satan: ??? Any takers?

To be drenched in joy where the Savior will somehow through the atonement wipe away all our tears and wounds from this life no matter how severe and crippling. It will be wonderful. It will be fun. As to whether or not you are allowed to ski.......one of the advantages of becoming a deity is not having to ask permission. If you want to ski make a planet that is one titanic mountain and ski down it. I am planning to ride a wave around an entire planet, dance in an exploding star, and ride a dinosaur just because I can. To be human is to desire. Our heaven is not the nirvana of the Buddhists where we sink into mindless contentment and no longer want things. I could be wrong and my plans for the afterlife will seem puerile when I get there but that is only because there will be stuff that is much much better and not because I will be bored of everything. To be exalted is to truly live. That feeling of exuberance that makes you want to run or to dance or to play a game or ride a roller coaster or strap on a jet pack and go flying will be magnified. If I believed heaven was an eternal sacrament meeting or like our pictures of heaven where everyone seems to be milling about in white robes engaging in small talk in some eternal extended family picnic I think I would abandon the gospel tomorrow as that kind of "happiness" is not for me and consider my other options....like maybe hookers and nose candy. What about the millennium? A thousand years of doing temple work...think robes... sounds like torture. ETA: But maybe it's not going to be just like that.
