cinepro Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Interestingly Elder Ballard in our regional conference talked about avoiding false prophets. I'm guessing along with Denver Snuffer and others the brethren feel this is a growing problem It seems to me the only reason someone would follow a "false prophet" is because that false prophet is offering them something they aren't getting from President Monson. Most LDS are content with the way in which our Church leaders communicate with us, but it seems there is some subset of LDS who want more. They want a Prophet who talks of visions, and prophecy, and new knowledge, and these false prophets seem to fill that need.

williamsmith Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Ya calm that would be good. And nehor careful with saying you don't understand why people believe everything just cuz it's in print. We do have the Book of Mormon Doctrine and covenants and Pearl of Great Price and ensign articles that are in print and we all believe those. Ya, but we also have Prophets and Apostles, the Spirit, Common Consent, history, experience, evidences, etc.We are not just "believing" what people say that sounds good. We compare and contrast, see other things, we try to get the best information from the best sources, not just believe.

Why seek out other prophets when we can be prophets ourselves?

Why seek out other prophets when we can be prophets ourselves?Because as D&C says that men immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion when they get what they think is a little power. I'd assume it's not difficult for the adversary to deceive people who get a touch of the spirit of prophecy in their life and convince them they are now a prophet to the world. 1
