The Nehor Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hagoth has been registered since 2011. If anything, Tom is following him. Yes, but less then two dozen posts and he only started posting after Tom showed up.
Calm Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Maybe they are the same person looking for more attention! 2
Calm Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Oh! Looks like Tom got banned, not limited. Not surprised, since he never really interacted with anyone else. Mods don't like people attempting to use the board for a personal pulpit.
Brant Gardner Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 The native Americans even today practice Hebrew like rituals in terms of their beliefs. Like their beliefs of purification and their use of Masonic like sweat lodges/temples. I have no idea where you think there is evidence for this. It is simply untrue. Please produce anyone who has done scholarly work in the last 50 years who agrees with you. Sweat lodges are used instead of baths for cleanliness, and have also picked up some spiritual functions as well. There is nothing Masonic about a sweat lodge (you might find a Masonic lodge in a hot, humid climate, but that is hardly the same thing). As for temples, I don't know what you are calling a temple or what rites you think are happening their. The fact that two cultures might call a building a temple doesn't mean that they have any connection at all. To say that all these sources form different centuries in different languages conspired together to lie about Native American beliefs customs and language is laughableNo one says they are lying. The early writers simply pushed an interpretation onto the data that was unwarranted. We know this because where there is better data and we can sort out what they heard from what they recorded we can see the process happening. That isn't calling them liars, just incorrect. especially when they DNA is from Isreal and the Middle East.Except that current work from geneticists contradicts you, and even the evidence that might support your position is thousands of years too early to be part of the Book of Mormon. You want to say that they were all lying about native American customs does not line up. These people were making observations. If you can show these observations have nothing to do with Hebrew customs and beliefs as stated you have a better argument. These people have been the subject of better studies since those early reporters. We know the biases they had, and we now know that they are wrong. There are no Hebrew customs. They claimed a lot of them in the late 1700's and early 1800's--but we know from better work that they misinterpreted native customs. The only thing I can say is that the hill Cumorah is in North America and the Hopewell Indians have everything needed to be Nephites. You may declare that as a matter of your belief, but the evidence you are using to support your position has been superseded. 2
Calm Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) Brant, we've lost Tom. He got kicked out of the sandbox for trying to hog all the toys.Oops, thought this was a different thread...sorry for the repeated news. Edited July 4, 2015 by calmoriah

PeterPear Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Here's some evidence for Mesoamerica: Go to the Maxwell Institute and search for articles about the Maya. There are hundreds. But.... "There is too much gratuitous “Mayanization” going on throughout this entire discussion.""The text’s “Nephites” were not Maya in all probability; the “Lamanites” may have been in part."http://www.mormoninterpreter.com/an-open-letter-to-dr-michael-coe/ So you see. After decades of promoting the Maya as if they were Nephites, the Maya are not the Nephites. But they could have been Lamanites - but the Lamanites lost their language, but the Maya had one before, during, and after 600 B.C - to 420 A.D. But the search is still on as of 2015 in Mesoamerica for Nephites. Yes it's Mesoamerica, portions of which still have not been surveyed, contains very little population - a jungle and outdoor museum of ruins, that the Book of Mormon prophesied would be inherited by Gentiles who would blessed upon the land. But North America isn't the location either.

Hagoth Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Yes, but less then two dozen posts and he only started posting after Tom showed up.Yeah, I'm more the strong, silent type I guess. I just drop by once in a while but I never posted until I noticed y'all got bombed with exactly the same stuff that Tom dumped on NOM. But you guys were harder on him I guess because he didn't get banned there, he just picked up his ball and left. I was a little bit hurt when he told you guys to ignore me because I post on NOM. I didn't know we were so scary that we're not to be listened to The funny thing is that he came to NOM asking for feedback from professional archaeologists, metallurgists and linguists, so he must have had some respect for us at one point. Oh well, nice talking to you. I hope I'm not casting too much of a dark shadow if I stop in from time to time. 1
Hagoth Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hey, you know what's really great about the Heartland Model? Now you can visit Book of Mormon lands in either location, depending on your budget. I'm working on a third option, the Wasatch Front Model, so I can host tours for Family Home Evening and YM/YW activities! 3
mfbukowski Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hey, you know what's really great about the Heartland Model? Now you can visit Book of Mormon lands in either location, depending on your budget. I'm working on a third option, the Wasatch Front Model, so I can host tours for Family Home Evening and YM/YW activities!Clearly you are just capitalizing on all this and should be ashamed of yourself. The only possible true model is the Los Angeles model. For a mere $25 bucks I will show you all the artifacts I have found in my back yard absolutely proving the existence of Nephites. 3
The Nehor Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I was a little bit hurt when he told you guys to ignore me because I post on NOM. I didn't know we were so scary that we're not to be listened to Why does everyone who is ignored insist that they are being ignored because they are scary? Is it a chest beating thing? 1
Hagoth Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Why does everyone who is ignored insist that they are being ignored because they are scary? Is it a chest beating thing? Dude, I was joking! I even put a winky face next to it. I just thought it was hilarious that Tom, who had just hijacked NOM for a week was telling everybody to ignore me because I post on NOM. Surely you see the humor in that. It might help to give some background. Our man Tom popped up on NOM and announced that he had exciting new evidence that proves the Book of Mormon and said he was hoping there were professional archaeologist, metallurgists, linguists, etc. on NOM who could help him fine tune his presentation before he releases it to the world. Then he let the anticipation build for a few days. Then he made a bombing run of epic proportions, using the absolute worst arguments from as far back as the 1600s. People gave feedback, mostly polite suggestions at first, but he arrogantly stomped on every one of them. I recommended some books he might want to read and asked him to look at DNA evidence from this decade but he insisted that we were just being stiff-necked and said that if we didn't believe him it would make no difference if God himself appeared and gave the same evidence. If you have to go back to a time before the discovery of germ theory and telegraph, when they still thought there were oceans on the moon, to cherry pick your evidence there might be a weakness in your theory. I'm just sayin'. 4

Please stay awhile! My only complaint is you didn't bring over your avatar.
Hagoth Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 My only complaint is you didn't bring over your avatar.Done, but it's a lot smaller here.
Hagoth Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Geez guys, thanks for booting Tom. Now he's back on NOM under a different name.
canard78 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Maybe they are the same person looking for more attention! I know of Hagoth in passing. Definitely not the same person. No sock puppetry.
canard78 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Geez guys, thanks for booting Tom. Now he's back on NOM under a different name. That's hilarious. I'll come and ridicule him over there for a while. I'm sad he didn't last here long. There are far more people he could have had a serious conversation with here. At NOM I'd imagine people will simply cough and look away with embarrassed silence eventually. I'll tell you what... If there's any way we could shepherd him over to mormondisc... forum they'd love to host him (honest). He might end up being booted down to the third level forum, but he could have all sorts of fun.
Hagoth Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 So was I. Glad to hear it. You hurt my feelings (JOKING!)
