Fairmormon Facebook Contest...free Streaming For Conference

Might as well go for three threads relating to this topic as well as giving everyone a chance as opposed to just those obsessive enough to stick out the entire "face in the hat" thread...

With all the excitment around the new illustrations of translation, FairMormon has decided to have a contest with the winner getting free streaming for the FairMormon August conference, see here for details:

Can you believe this? I would love to win free live streaming of the conference, but don't want to share the post. It seems anti, just from the artist's rendition, I know nearly all of my ward, FB friends and family are pribably oblivious to JS translating this way. But thanks anyway.

It is NOT anti, despite the possible perception it is.

Hopefully this comes across the right way, but have you considered that part of the reason you feel like the Church has hidden its history from you is that other members were afraid of coming across as anti and didn't grit their teeth and share something they knew was okay because of that fear? Perhaps you can give leaders and teachers and others who didn't share stuff with you in the past a break seeing as how difficult it is for you to do the same thing.

And maybe you should ask yourself how much longer there will be those feeling like you do if members like yourself don't push out of their comfort zone to share?

You're exactly right but I would need to be more stalwart in order for it to come off right. If it were a few years ago.... Duncan is pefect to share this... well sort of, just kidding Duncan! ;)

My posts have never been anti on FB, but they haven't been pro either. Meaning the constant sharing of quotes from apostles etc. on FB. It would be like an anomaly, they would be suspicious, atleast in my mind's eye. I'm thinking most have never heard of FairMormon.

People I've mentioned it to in my personal circles and two friends in my ward, one of which is a former GD teacher turned Visiting Teaching Coordinator, who has an indepth understanding of the gospel, have never heard of FairMormon. And if some go to FairMormon and read on the Support forum about some issues, wouldn't that cause some damage? But I forget, not everyone is like me. But I applaud you, and others like you Cal!

What does it mean to tag @fairmormon? Do you write that in the comments for the post?

the way I did it was to go to the fair facebook page (sorry, I cannot provide a link right now), likethe page, and then share the link Cal provided. At this point there is a "tag +" icon on the lower left portion (I think) of your comment box. Click on it and type in "@fairmormon" and tap enter. Then click "share".

Share some of those Uchtdorf memes (there are millions of them) and then share it ;)

That's a good idea, but what about those friends and family members (my side) that don't want to see all the TBM stuff?  I'm stuck, and am that way with political things.  I try to stay silent, I know I'm such a wimp.

Cal, I just went to Fair Mormon Support and noticed they are down, maybe for maintenance.  Do you have any inside information about this, are they changing something?

If you're on a laptop you can create sub-groups on Facebook. That way you can share something that only certain people will see.

Good to know! I wonder what the comments have been for those that have shared on FB. Hint, hint. ;)
