Tacenda Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I wonder if they will announce that there will no longer be marriage ceremonies in the temple. That is indeed a reason for the special news conference. I can't think of anything else that would be as significant. ETA: So far I was wrong.

If its Public Affairs/Media Relations organs never held such press conferences, the hues and cries would be: (1) "How come the Church of Jesus Christ or its leaders or representatives never comment publicly about [fill-in-the-blank-with-my-pet-cause-here]?"; and (2) "The Church of Jesus Christ has never said publicly that the Church supports equal housing, employment, et cetera for people regardless of sexual orientation, and [Mormon X] did something horrible to [someone in the LGBTQI-etc-etc-etc community]. Thus, the Church must tacitly condone the 'something horrible' ..."
