If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf? That's the New Revised Standard. Time to switch translations.

Not a few honest Bible scholars have concluded that apparently, this refers to a rite that is no longer practiced in the Christian Church. NRS is good for that verse, anyway!
