Rodeo Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 How are we suffering for standing up for God's morals? We get hammered upon because we espouse morals and preach what is right.

Rodeo Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 How do we get hammered upon?By saying things like "homosexual behavior is an abomination".

The above sounds to me like you're hammering on homosexuals, not the other way around... Rodeo -- Daniel is correct, you still have not identified how we are suffering or "getting hammered upon"?
Rodeo Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Rodeo -- Daniel is correct, you still have not identified how we are suffering or "getting hammered upon"?I get accused of gay bashing just for telling the truth about it.
california boy Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 VideoGameJunkie -- Would the promise of eternity with a spouse of your same gender be an incentive for you to be "a worthy member of the church"? Of course. At least there would be a promise of happiness in the next life. Current church policy guarantees a gay member of a miserable lonely life while on earth as well as in the eternities. If you are gay, you are promised unhappiness forever. Not a particularly attractive incentive.
JLHPROF Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Of course. At least there would be a promise of happiness in the next life. Current church policy guarantees a gay member of a miserable lonely life while on earth as well as in the eternities. If you are gay, you are promised unhappiness forever. Not a particularly attractive incentive. Nonsense. That is your assumption, not doctrine. You believe you will have the exact same physical, hormonal and emotional state once you are resurrected. Assuming you were to overcome any sinful behaviors through self discipline in this life there is no doctrine that makes me believe you would retain them in the next once your body is purified of its physical challenges. If you are purified and celestialized you will only want pure celestial things.
rockpond Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 If you are purified and celestialized you will only want pure celestial things. And of course, few are given pause at the popular LDS assumption that the sex that we as straight people are hardwired to enjoy is also deemed (by us) to be "celestial sex".
rockpond Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I get accused of gay bashing just for telling the truth about it. I don't know if there is any one globally accepted definition of "gay bashing". But if by "telling the truth" you mean sharing propaganda from anti-gay groups (as you've done here)... gay bashing may be a correct term for it. But let's assume that you have been unfairly accused for gay bashing. Is that "suffering" on par with the suffering homosexuals have endured?
thesometimesaint Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 The Bible says lots of things are an abomination. Imposing our morality on others like the Bible does will get us into US legal hot water.
JLHPROF Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 And of course, few are given pause at the popular LDS assumption that the sex that we as straight people are hardwired to enjoy is also deemed (by us) to be "celestial sex". No pause because not an assumption. Genesis 2:24 - "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." Matthew 19:4-6 - "Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Ephesians 5:31 - "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh." Yep, heterosexual sex is the only order God created/joined together.
JLHPROF Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 The Bible says lots of things are an abomination. Imposing our morality on others like the Bible does will get us into US legal hot water. So what? Law of God vs Law of the US. Easy choice.
Daniel2 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I get accused of gay bashing just for telling the truth about it.So, in your view, "getting accused of gay-bashing" is you "getting hammered by pro-gays"?But calling gays' and lebians' relationships and families "abominations," "sinful," "Satanic," "selfish," spreading debunked junk science from groups like the FRC, working to prevent equal civil rights and recognition, and analogizing gay relationships to pedophilia and causing the destruction of children and society isn't "hammering, it's "just telling the truth"....?I think you may need to see your eye doctor about a potentially serious case of beam-itis. 2

And since we've never let "culture" undermine doctrine, I can trust that God intended for these statements to be read in an exclusive manner. Oh, wait...
thesometimesaint Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 So what? Law of God vs Law of the US. Easy choice. Be real careful there.

Whether it is or isn't, are you suggesting that the notion of "eternal increase" may be the product of two men as well as a man and a woman? You see, Rodeo, bashing and hammering is only what opponents to gay immorality do. Supporters can do no wrong, and all accusations of "gay bashing" are invariably true. Such is the PC narrative. You will be assimilated. Thanks, -Wade Englund-
rockpond Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Translation: "I don't care what the bible really teaches, I had a revelation that Gay marriage will happen in the temple". No such revelation here. You? Regarding what the Bible teaches... I believe we are supposed to put a little more thought into it than the strict, literal interpretation than JLHPROF's post implied. Thanks, -Wade Englund- Rodeo claimed that we, as church members, are suffering because of our stance on morality. All that happened here is that he was asked to explain how we've suffered. He hasn't been able to do that.

rockpond Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Homosexual behavior brings its own self inflicted suffering JUSTLY so. Gee... why would you ever be accused of gay bashing?
