Revelation 11

11:1 Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there,

2 but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months.

3 And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”

4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.

5 And if anyone would harm them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, this is how he is doomed to be killed.

6 They have the power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.

7 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them,

8 and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.

9 For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb,

10 and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.

11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.

12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here!” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies watched them.

Do LDS believe that two prophets will preach for 1,260 days (42 months, 3 1/2 years) in and around Jerusalem?  Will these be two LDS prophets?

ERayR

Yup.

Since this is the case then you don't believe that Jesus could come back at any time since the two prophets have not arrived on the scene and when they do you know that you have at least 3 1/2 years to go.  Correct?

But Non Mormon Israelites do not hold the true priesthood.  So why do you think that this is speaking about them?

I'll let you find the answer yourself.  Hint:  The sons of Levi hold an hereditary authority to perform these sacrifices.

The current LDS prophet along with another prophet who will live in Jerusalem for 3 1/2 years?

Not necessarily.

But the LDS quotes say that animal sacrifices will be part of the restoration.

It would seem so unless the two were already there .  We have no evidence that they are or are not there now.

No they really don't.  They only say that it will be restored.

If there are two LDS prophets in Jerusalem now (as described in Revelation 11) don't you think you would be aware of this fact?  Or are these two LDS prophets stealth like and nobody knows that they are there?

Encyclopedia of MormonismVol.3, SACRIFICE IN BIBLICAL TIMES

The Bible prophet Malachi predicted a time when Levites would again offer sacrifice in righteousness (Mal. 3:3). Such offerings will not be of the Mosaic type, which were fulfilled in Christ. However, the sacrificial system that antedated Moses was not fulfilled in Jesus. The Prophet Joseph Smith, taught that blood sacrifices similar to those revealed to Adam will once again be performed prior to Christ's second coming in order to complete the restoration of all things (TPJS, pp. 172-73; DS 3:94-95). These may be undertaken for only a brief period and perhaps only by a selected group.

Still repeating the same stuff without answering me.

I don't think you will find that productive.  Plugging your ears and saying the same thing louder is rather childish, don't you think?

Are you living in Israel and know everything that is going on there?

Perhaps you could clarify what you believe on this matter.  Will animal sacrifices be restored as part of the "restoration"?

Don't you read what you are linking to?

Bottom of page 1 column 1, Joseph Fielding Smith: "It will be necessary, therefore, for the sons of Levi, who offered the blood sacrifices anciently in Israel, to offer such a sacrifice again . . .

I did read what I linked to--did you?

Are animal sacrifices part of the restoration according to the linked references?

No I don't live in Israel.  I take it from your response that you believe that the 2 witnesses could be preaching now as we speak and continue to do so for the next 3 1/2 years and this while nobody seems to know that this is taking place?

Since you believe that NON LDS Jews (those who do not hold the true priesthood) are responsible for the animal sacrifices (part of the LDS restoration) you must also believe that the Jews will rebuild their temple on the Temple Mount prior to the Second Coming of Christ.  Is that a fair assessment of what you believe?

Stop the Twenty Questions game. If you do not immediately respond to the questions asked of you this thread will be closed.

The LDS Church has 80,000 missionaries spread across the world and their efforts rarely make the news let alone the front page.

A reasonable assumption, however, It need not be to the scale of Solomon's temple.  If the rumors are correct the orthodox Jews have everything ready, some of it prefab, to build when the opportunity arrives,  It could go up quite rapidly.

But we are not talking about LDS missionaries.  We are speaking about the two witnesses of Revelation.  Do you really believe that their 3 1/2 years will be stealth--such that not a single person has heard or spoken about them?

And you would agree that this rebuilt Temple (prior to the Second Coming) will have nothing whatsoever to do with the LDS church--based on what you have said up to this point.  Agree?
