Stargazer Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 A new Shawarma place opened up in my hometown, although its a mobile, not a brick-and-mortar. I didn't take any notice of it at first (though I pass it every day on the way to work), but then there was this scene in The Avengers, where Iron Man / Tony Stark says there's a shawarma joint he hasn't tried yet just a couple of blocks away, and later there's this post-credits scene, at the shawarma joint. So, I still didn't know that the local "Assyrian" was a 'shawarma joint" until a couple months later when the local newspaper had an article on the place. So I had to go do the Avenger thing. And wow! It's good! You can get either chicken or lamb/beef shawarma, and a few other things. The lady that owns it told me that the Avengers movie brought her a lot of new customers.
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 We had truck once that was called "Big Red". It was Dodge 4x4 built up to plow snow. We had tears when it left us. My little car is Toyota Corolla that is called Habibba (Sweetie) . She is outside now sulking because I will not take her to play in new snow. Poor baby. Depending on how they have run over the years...none I can mention.
Ron Beron Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Not any more. But I did own a car that I called my black mistress. She was painted black, and so expensive to operate, and maintain, we called her a mistress.Hopefully, she was discrete.
thesometimesaint Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Hopefully, she was discrete. She was so fast all that could been seen of her was her tail lights. Not really but I did have her up to 140 mph one time, and she was purring like a contented kitten.
strappinglad Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Actually,TSS, that was the sound of the built in recorder about to play " Nearer My God to Thee ". 1

In Saudi, it is so expensive and only the rich can do it. I do not know if Camel would fall into the Biblical prohibition in the OT.
thesometimesaint Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Actually,TSS, that was the sound of the built in recorder about to play " Nearer My God to Thee ". That is hardly the fastest I've driven, never on the public roads however. I've always wanted to drive fast cars, but realized a long time ago I just would never be a race car driver.
MorningStar Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Any chance it's one of the tools that o'reilly lends for free?I didn't know they did that. I'll ask them!
MorningStar Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Youtube is very useful for these things. is an example. It depends on how handy your friend is. I do not think it takes special tool to get door cover off. If you look around on Youtube, you may be able to find the exact video you need. A As to the oil leaking or burning, I drove my old 2001 corolla from portland to Ohio, and up to New York a couple times, out to Iowa twice and up to Chicago once. Then we drove it back to Oregon. Just check the oil every time you put fuel in it. My old Corolla would go about two tanks a quart. Thank you!
MorningStar Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Concerning needing special tools to get door panel off... I've had to open up interior door panels on a number of cars, and none have required special tools. Some just need you to pry the panel away and the attachments are all snaps or some kind of friction fastener. Sometimes you pry off screw covers and unscrew attachments, too. The challenge is getting it all back together again, in my experience, due to losing screws, screw covers, and so on.Thank you! Our friend has done it on some cars and said he didn't want to try it without a tool, I think like this one. Do all panels have molding too? I think our van does. We're just very nervous that we'll ruin it, break clips, etc.
bluebell Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I didn't know they did that. I'll ask them! Oh yeah it's wonderful! They rent all kinds of tools and as long as you bring them back within 48 hours you don't have to pay a thing! 2
