Were The Gen. Conf. Protestors On The Job This Weekend?

Seems like someone would have mentioned the usual protestors at General Conference, but there's been nothing said about them here for the April 2013 Conference. Were they there? Or is just something I can expect as a "given" without bothering to ask?

Perhaps their prominence was obscured by the attention given to women praying in General Conference and those seeking priesthood ordination for women? My guess is that the protestors were probably there as usual.

Todd and I enjoyed observing protesters between session. We witness an Atheist protester and a Born again protester get into a confrontation with each other.

Walker wouldn’t say whether his group will return for the upcoming General Conference weekend. “If we had something planned like that, it wouldn’t exactly be in our best interest to let that be public.”

I would think the fact that they need to be secretive might be a clue that it was not the best approach.

Even the Westboro Baptist Church is kind enough to make their protest schedule public. If "kind" isn't the completely wrong word to use in this context.

Why do I have the sudden urge to wash my mouth out when I mention the Westboro Baptist Church?

And a caution is in order: this is not linking to temple content, but it's highly offensive the way they express themselves.

I suspect they had a less receptive audience than they would have if they had been open about it, handed out the tissues and asked if they would like to read some literature rather than hiding the literature as a 'gotcha'. Most people don't appreciate someone trying to trick them.

I dunno. I'll split the difference and say that the tissues were really a magnanimous gesture ... since the messages no doubt moved some people to tears!

Oh yes, they were there. Though they had to be outside the gates of Temple Square and off conference center property from what I could see. Really people seemed to be completely ignoring them. I saw someone holding a Mormonthink sign, and another person holding a sign that said "These Street Preachers Are Servants of Satan" but in my walking, that was about all I could read.
