Well, at first I wanted him dead, but since he wanted to be dead, I prefer for him to be not dead since that seems to be the more miserable situation for him. I'm in my anger stage right now.

I know...let me add something I hope this will help.

Were you trying to add a link, Pa Pa? Maybe to a poem? :)

Forgive

Forgive,

The scripture seemed to read,

As once again I’d look.

Forgive,

The scripture clearly said,

Annoyed I closed the book.

“Forgive“,

The Spirit softly spoke,

Startled I did fear.

Forgive,

The Spirit louder spoke,

I pretended not to hear.

“Forgive“,

The Saviour said to me,

I quickly questioned , Why?

“Forgive“,

The Saviour said again,

“For this I came to die.”

Then bitterly I cried out

How canst thou know my pain?

The wounds that I have suffered

My tears that fell like rain.

The quietly he spoke my name

And said, “I understand”.

Reached out that he may lift me

With wounds in both his hands.

Ashamed I said, How can I?

He reminded me again,

“For he who will not forgive,

In him lies the greater sin.”

Forgive,

The scripture seemed to read,

As once again I’d look.

Forgive,

The scripture clearly read,

I then embraced the book.

“Forgive“,

The Spirit softly spoke,

Now I did not fear.

“Forgive“,

The Spirit said again,

Once deaf, I now can hear.

“Forgive“,

The Saviour said to me,

“To you this gift I give.”

“Forgive,”

The Savior said again,

“Do this and ye shall live.”

Wow...that is very much a personal and rage filled act. There has got to be something mentally off there. Is there any indication of schizophrenia (not that schizophrenics are typically violent, I am just trying to think of something that might trigger something like that) or something?

Not that I know of. Can schizophrenics pretend to be normal to give everyone a false sense of security? I was just reading an article where his mom was interviewed and she said during the first time he was in prison, she said she wouldn't visit him if he went to prison again. She followed through on that and I think his grandparents still visited him. I'm wondering if he was extremely bitter about that and he murdered them to hurt her? She had also called the cops when she discovered he had stolen drugs from a pharmacy. She also said he became more "rough" during his first time in prison, but she figured it was so he could survive in there.

I just don't know how he could follow through with strangling one grandparent, let alone both of them. I can't think about that much. I just want to remember their sweet, smiling faces.

Yes, to strangle someone is just such a personal, up close type of murder...

It has been too long since I've studied this stuff, but I would say it is less likely to be schizophrenia if he was able to hide it that well, more likely a psychopathic personality than..... (though again the majority of psychopaths are not violent).
Psychopathy ...is a personality disorder that has been variously characterized by shallow emotions (including reduced fear, a lack of empathy, and stress tolerance), coldheartedness, egocentricity, superficial charm, manipulativeness, irresponsibility, impulsivity, criminality, antisocial behavior, a lack of remorse, and a parasitic lifestyle.
http://en.wikipedia....iki/Psychopathy

Another possibility: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisocial_personality_disorder

Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) is described by the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, fourth edition (DSM-IV-TR), as an Axis II personality disorder characterized by "...a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood."[1] They have an "impoverished sense moral sense or conscience" and may have a "history of crime, legal problems, impulsive and aggressive behaviour." The antisocial personality disorder falls under the dramatic/erratic cluster of personality disorders. [2]

There is really no need to label such behaviour, but somehow it feels comforting as if we understand it better simply because we have given it a name.

Bottomline though...it is senseless and evil.

Calmoriah I think that anybody that would murder is mentally off.

This is awful! I live a few hours away, and had not heard this. My heart goes out to his mother. Her son killed her parents! How do you ever get over that??

If the Atonement ever was needed, this is it.

Not really. Most murders are one off, a fit of passion event. Not that that makes it any a less a grievous offense against the Person, God, and the State.

It make little sense to put them in a psychiatric prison, because they're not mentally ill to begin with.
