Ahab Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Is LDS theology that murder can't be forgiven? No. The only unpardonable sin is to deny the Holy Ghost, which means to deny what the Holy Ghost has told you. If you deny what he tells you and then later you no longer deny what he said, though, then there's not a problem, as long as you accept what he tells including maybe doing something he tells you to do when he tells you something. What of the people who buried their weapons in the ground in the BOM and obtained mercy? What about Saul... are there elements of a murder that need to be egregious for this to happen?Obviously a person can't fully repent from murdering someone, because part of the process of repentance includes resolviing or at least trying to resolve any harm that resulted from the sin, but as long as people do their best then God will do the rest. Yes, even murderers can be forgiven for all of their sins as long as they don't deny what the Holy Spirit will tell them.A lot of people say things that aren't totally true, but everything God will tell you is true.
The Nehor Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Always ready for a duel, aren't you? Do you have any of those toy phaser pistols that fire colored discs with an S in the middle? That's what I'd like shoot at you.I am convinced if we legalized dueling again the average IQ in the US would go up. Plus it is a traditional value and needs to come back lest we all become commie socialist muslim fascists. 4

I think we should make the weapons fun, though.Plus it is a traditional value and needs to come back lest we all become commie socialist muslim fascists.Do they ride dragons, too, like nazi zombie whatevers? If they do that means we get their dragons when we win, I think.... unless the government tacks on too many fees and license requirements to make it financially and comfortably tenable.

And now, behold, I speak unto the church. Thou shalt not akill; and he that bkills shall cnot have forgiveness in this world, nor in the world to come. Edited February 7, 2013 by Rivers
Ahab Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 What about D&C 42:18?Well, first of all, I'd point out that kill in that cases refers to murder, because I know there are some good reasons to kill. From there I'd point out that I don't believe anybody commits the act of murder without the Holy Spirit telling them, in some way, that they shouldn't do that. And I say "I don't believe" because I haven't actually experienced the act of murdering someone, but I have thought about it in one of my darkest moments and I know the Holy Spirit was advising me against that.Murder isn't something someone does by accident. If you accidentally kill someone, or if you kill someone as people typically do in a war, that isn't murder. So, that's what I'd say, to begin with. When people deny the Holy Spirit they can do all kinds of bad things, but if they no longer deny the Holy Spirit they can be forgiven. And THEN I'd point out that there's also a difference between who we forgive, and who the Lord forgives. He can forgive people even when we can't forgive them.

David, on the other hand, did have a knowledge of the gospel when he murdered Bathsheba's husband. Is this why David fell from exaltation?
becsjulia Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I get what you're saying. This is why I reject the "Easy Jesus" worldview..... A few days after posting as i read the scriptures i was brought to the scriptures Alma 24:8-10 which says,(im abbreviating).... God has given us a portion of his Spirit to soften our hearts, that by opening this correspondence has made us convinced of our asins,And I also thank my God, yea, that he hath granted unto us that we might repent of these things, and also that he hath aforgiven us of those our many sins through the merits of his Son....The Lord corrected my understanding and i pondered on my own conversion. How foolish of me to have forgotten the greatness of MY OWN conversion!! to forget my conversion unto the Lord is a mirror image of this!! All my sins slowly stopped, i didnt know how, id had them for over 14 years!!! Then slowly my heart was opening to the voice of the Lord, id watch christian shows and started reading the scriptures BOOM!!! i was convicted, deeply deeply convicted, i cried for 2 weeks every single day knowing how much i had sinned against God!! Then i started my journey with the Lord and BOOM!!! gained a testimony of the Saviors atonement, through watching the Easter Shows and cried and cried again lol and my heart FLOODED with gratitude and i live each day as an expression of my gratitude for the sacrifice Jesus made and for the very character of our living God.. I can testify that those scriptures are true because it happened to ME!!! lil ol me!!!
