In the comments section, a Poster with the handle xxixpines (i.e. 29 pines) wrote the following:""We have noted with growing alarm the increased tendency of members to forget about the birth and miraculous achievements of Joseph Smith during the month of December", said the First Presidency statement. "All too often members concentrate instead on carols, scriptures, and stories celebrating the birth of Jesus. We therefore encourage all members to rededicate themselves to the true spirit of the season by focusing more on the birth of the prophet Joseph. Members would do well to consider emulating the example set by students and staff at BYU by replacing their traditional nativity scenes with scenes depicting the birth of the prophet. More traditional carols can and should be replaced with hymns like 'O How Lovely Was the Morning' and 'Praise to the Man'. Church lessons and talks during the month of December should also reflect this shift in emphasis."This quote is found here.Now there is no question that this alleged quote is anything other than bogus. I remember there being a thread about how Mormons place special emphasis on JS birth. Which oddley enough I really had never thought about his birth. I could not even tell you teh day other than it was in Dec.For shortness I say he made this up out of whole cloth. The dude's other posts were really uninformed.

Sometimes a quote is too perfect and doesn't pass the smell test. Although some critic being dumb or deceitful enough to quote a parody site does pass the smell test.

Sometimes a quote is too perfect and doesn't pass the smell test. Although some critic being dumb or deceitful enough to quote a parody site does pass the smell test.Or the BY quote that made its way into a movie flop, "September Yawn" which turned out to be fabricated.

He now has a radio show dedicated to spreading anti-Mormon crap. I really had to wonder what kind of person decides that his calling in life is to go about tearing someone else's faith for 40 hours a week. Then I realized, I know exactly what type of person does that.

Then I realized, I know exactly what type of person does that.I worked with a group of older gentlemen with work one time dealing with a difficult situation. The men were all white and over 70 years of age, the difficult situation was from a visible minority. I assumed these men would show their cultural biases but above all, they wanted to be fair. They never mentioned race or even past behavior. They wanted the problem resolved with the least amount of disruption and embarrassment to the one in question. In a word, they had compassion. Critics, above all, have a fundamental lack of compassion. They are obsessed with revenge for wrongs that were never perpetrated.
