Shawn Mcraney Begs For An Apologist/Scholar To Come On The Show

Would any of you please offer an answer as to why no one is showing up for this proposition of his?

If people are out there watching the show and not seeing two sides, just his side, shouldn't someone be the apologist, defender of your faith. People like me (kind of weak) need you. Yet all we hear are birds chirping. Seeing & hearing may be a nice addition to just reading the words.

Because they do not want to give him publicity. Even if he gives up the show and lets someone else do their thing he shows up on the next one and tries to rebut it. Then the person who shows up has to show up again to rebut his stuff. And round and round they go and his little show gets publicity and more viewers.

I say let it wither on the vine.

Just thought you'd be interested.  The guest is somewhat like you guys on the board...knowledgeable about his own religion and not afraid to say what it teaches  Even if it's controversial.  The more it's said the more accepting people will be of it.

But it does show his intent toward mormon apologists. Not very christian in his response. I have always found it amazing just how christians can be harsh toward mormonism in attitude and speech and yet, get a free pass from other christians.

Do we know what cdowis said to him?  But I'm on your side, Shawn's antics don't help, but his target audience are the disengaged Mormons out there, not the stalwart.

And btw, the guest is not an apologist.  I think he's been calling to refute what Shawn says and begs to come on the show.  Shawn decided to let him come on.  I'm sure it won't look pretty, the next show.  Shawn was nice the first show, who knows what will happen the next, oh the suspense. ;)

I have watched several of the Heart of the Matter shows on bornagainmormon.com. Whether anyone would like to admit it or not he has had some affect on the LDS and has brought quite a few out of the church. Granted, LDS members that may have been like me, social in the church and not really into the doctrines etc. until some things come up, had no idea of JS's particular polygamy, are easily prusuaded.

In his show he goes over and over on the born again commandment. That we should be born again on top of baptism at eight or whatever age. I'm, like my tag line says, a middle wayer. Do I jump the fence and go to his side of logic or do I stay LDS because that would be so much easier for my life. And LDS are my life! Some of the best people on this planet are mormon, help!!

But...when he brings up the scripture...Matthew 19:29 And everyone that has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. Again a stumbling block.

Also, as many on here have told me to do, to pray to get that witness, I then get the "not to trust my feelings" scripture as in Romans 10:17 - Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Faith does not come by feelings or by praying for emotional experiences. Again another stumbling block..

Finally, to get to the gist of my post, Shawn McRaney said on the show that he's asked for Scott Gordon from FAIR to come on the show, or any scholar or apologist. And even commented he would leave the building and give the whole one hour show to the scholar, apologist or even better a GA.

Would any of you please offer an answer as to why no one is showing up for this proposition of his?

Thank you sorry for the long post!

What, and give him the attention he craves?

Did you watch the video? Doug was treated with respect. In fact, he's coming back for another show next week. Shawn's heart might soften yet towards mormonism, he's always said he loves the people. He might come around yet.

Its no wonder you go through bouts of great doubt if your watching that.

Several years ago, Shawn publicly announced he would allow anyone on his show from other religions, and interact with them.  He even said he would have me on!  Then he changed his mind, because he said he could not get enough "qualified" apologists, so he was going a different direction.  So he uninvited me.

When he announced at the end of 2012 he was going after Evangelicals like he did Mormons, he got kicked off the broadcast TV channel here in Utah.  He has his own production company, and is now an Internet Evangelist.  I think he is on an obscure Direct TV network, which also puts him on several obscure feeds and about 20 local affiliates WORLD WIDE.  Better than me, but I don't make my living attacking other religions.

Actually it use to, now it just makes me doubt Shawn and his bouncing ways....he use to be against tattoos but is now sporting one and a few other things that make me judge, which I just need to not do. So watching the show makes me "doubt my doubts", as Pres. Uchtdorf would say. So the opposite affect, atleast this week. ;)

It seems to me that Shawn is rather full of himself. Shawn's audience is any mormon who chooses to listens to him. He wants to cast doubts in a mormon's mind. I find it amazing how christians can believe that it is perfectly acceptable to attack another person's religion in the name of a particular form of christianity. I see this also on catholic sites. I wonder just how christians would feel if mormons were doing the same with such vehemence and vinegar. There are christian ministries founded just to attack mormonism and they get followers for doing so. What a wonderful christian business to be a part of.
