ERayR Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I just recently switched to Firefox upon the recommendation of my computer guru and I find that when participating on the board my screens do not automatically refresh so I am constantly going out of and coming back to the board to update the posts I can see. Does anyone know how to correct this?Thanks

My old browser (Internet Explorer) somehow automatically refreshed. My computer consultant is of the opinion that Firefox is much more secure so I switched after having some trouble. It is taking a little getting used to because before I gave no thought to how it work, just that it did. Things are starting to get a little more routine with new browser but still some minor irritations.Again thanks

So far, because of previous problems, he has recommended that I keep it as simple as possible. We are on a three times a week debug regimen with four different programs. So far everything is good. Problems seem to be gone.

No matter what I do, this web site has very large size while the other web sites are normal.Please help!Try "Ctrl -" (press both the Ctrl key and the - key, either the one next to the 0 key or next to the * on the keypad at the same time) to make the font smaller, and "Ctrl +" at the same time to make the font larger.

Tacenda Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 FYI, if anyone gets a call from someone at Microsoft saying they've noticed unusual activity on your account and then try and get you to go online and give them control to look for the problem, don't do it. They will actually put a virus in your computer and then get you to buy something to clean it up. They called three times, the first call I was really busy so I quickly went to my computer to make sure it all looked good and told them every thing looked good on my end and then quickly said goodbye. Then my son mentioned something about this scam right after I got off the phone, later saw it on the news. The second time they called I got mad and told them they were scammers. The third time I did the same thing and they said no that's not us we're legitimate. But I didn't believe him and told them to go to hell, I rarely say this but was so incensed they would deny the scam and keep trying to get me to fall for it. After the call I went online and typed in "does Microsoft ever call it's customers". It said they will never call customers unless you call them first and working on a problem together. 1

Definitely a big scam. Someone tried to do that to a friend of mine in my ward. The calls were coming from Utah, made me wonder if someone was using church directory data to scam members. I use linux on some of my computers, so I would love to get a call from them and then try to follow their instructions on a linux box, and then see how long it takes them to figure out I'm not on windows. Sometimes if it's a slow day at work, if I get a call from a telemarketer I'll spend as much time as I can giving them really short answers to their questions to see how long it takes them to figure out (and admit) that I really don't need their service. Once my wife was having trouble with a really annoying rep from a company that kept calling after she tried to cancel her account, asking for a credit card (I can't remember the exact reason they were saying the needed the card), and they just wouldn't stop calling so I took the phone and started giving them random credit card numbers that I made up, and when it didn't work I'd say "Oh, my mistake, here...try this one..." After about 10 minutes, I asked the guy how much time he had because I had all day, and he just said "Do you not have a card to use?" and I said "Nope. Don't ever call back again" and we never heard from them again.
Calm Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 When the Microsoft scam called us, I just told them I don't have Microsoft on my computer so how did you manage to come up with an account...a pause and then a click. The computers are my husband's name or his university's so I wasn't lying either. We had such a bad scam going around the neighbourhood our town and the city next to us put out an emergency public service call to all the home phones to inform people that no one was being taken to court by the IRS or whatever it was. I had gotten the call earlier that day.

But do need to say that I carried a great conversation with a recorded woman name Sara. Crazy, why do I pick these calls up? I think it's so I can get my frustrations out. But be careful it just might be a legitimate caller. Had that happen once or twice.

But be careful it just might be a legitimate caller. Had that happen once or twice. No problem and just for the record the IRS will not initiate an action by phone, letter only. If you call them the will call back. 1
