Twice I've written replies of a couple paragraphs and hit "Add Reply" and they don't go through because it seems someone else is making a reply at the same time. The latest was a reply on the "Priest to Profit" thread... I gave a thoughtful response about our young people, boys and girls, being prepared from the time they are in primary with concepts and attributes that benefit them through the years... it was lost and I spent that time and effort for nothing...

Several problems this morning. First of all when I click in the topic box it automatically clicks one if the icons above, ie the bold or italics, and then starts printing in that format.

Secondly I had a problem with the quote icon. I couldn't get it to enclose my quotes and it took several attempts.

Thirdly I had finally gotten my reply ready to enter and the system took me out to that checking my internet window and I lost everything and had to start over. And that's not counting before that when it said explorer had detected a problem and shut down entirely (but didn't shut down the other interenet pages I already had up, just this one.)

How to avoid losing your posts:

Before you hit the "post" button, put the cursor in the text entry area, click the left mouse button, then hit <ctrl>+<a> (the keyboard shortcut for "select all") then hit <ctrl>+<c> (the keyboard shortcut for "copy") and then hit the "post" button. If you lose your post, just left-click inside the text entry area and hit <ctrl>+<v> (the keyboard shortcut for "paste") and you should be good to go.

When that happens, there is an easy way to recover your lost post. If you click on the "back" (left arrow) button at the top of the browser twice, it will take you back to where you were, before you lost what you typed. The software keeps a backup copy of your post, and that is one way to recover it. As a precaution, another thing you can do is to simply highlight what you have typed, and right-click and "Copy" it, before clicking the "Post" button. Then you have it saved, and can paste it back and repost it if it became necessary.

I don't understand why that checking browser thing comes on even when you've stayed signed on and open.

How often? Can you estimate the time? I have it set to 45 min to allow once scanned but its being reported that its less.

It's kinda random sometimes - I'll get scanned three times in a row - once for each page change, then nothing for 45 minutes.

Havete same problems, plus the quote button keeps crashing my browser.

I personally do not find it all that troublesome. A little bit annoying maybe, but nothing to worry about. And I haven't experienced any crashes either. I use Google Chrome. Try that, maybe you will experience fewer problems.

So, is there a reason why the system no longer indicates how long you have been a member of the board?

nother thing I can't seem to do any more and that is look up old posts of banned members.

When I see that someone has been banned, I like to look up their recent posts in order to see what happened that caused the status change, but now, for example with Messenger, his member page simply says "no longer active" and doesn't give the option of looking up his posts.

Is there a good reason for this, or is it just some option that the new version of the board set as a different default from the earlier version?

Oh, and just for grins let me report that this happens whenever the DDOS prevention panel shows up.

As I mentioned in post #31, you can always recover your post intact when that happens by clicking "back" (left arrow) button on the browser twice, and then simply repost it. It really works, without fail, every time. I have never lost a single post so far because of that occurance. When that happens, wait five seconds for it to do it's thing (which then takes you to the wrong page); then click the back button twice, and it will take you to the original page where you had typed your post, with everything preserved exactly as you had typed it. Then simply click the button to post it, and it will go through. You can try it experimentally. Type a post; then wait ten or twenty minutes before posting it. That phenomenon should occur again, and you can see if my trick works or not.

However, I've found that when I try to post again, there's a little blue message in the grey border at the bottom of the edit window telling me about the saved content. If you click that message, it will pop up a window showing what it has autosaved from your interrupted post, and you have then the opportunity to attempt to recover it.
