3 Nephite Stories-Do Tell!

At the behest of Peppermint Patty I thought we could share any 3 Nephite or 3 Nephite lookalike stories. I will repost mine

When I was on my mission I was in this one area and every once in a while we kept running into this older guy and who asked us if we knew a "Bishop Greenwood" and we were like uh..can't say that we do...and he would always give us twenty american dollars each so we just chalked it up to one of the 3 nephites!

The thing that gobsmacked me was it was so random that we ran into this guy, he was seemingly everywhere.

My father had a couple of experiences with what he considered was one of the three Nephites. One when he was a child living out in the baldheaded prairie of southern Alberta when a man appeared and asked his mother for some food, ate it and then left and disappeared.

The more detailed one took place at dads workplace. He worked at the Sugar Factory as a coal stoker when he was a young man. This was before WWII. One day at lunch the workers were sitting having lunch.Near them was a sugar bag room with one door only. The foreman came out of the room chuckling. When asked he said he found an old hobo asleep on the bags so he put a handful of lime on the mans bare chest. He was laughing because he figured that soon the hobo would wake up yelling because the lime would burn him. My father didn't like that so he went into the room and saw the man there still sleeping with the lime on his chest starting to bubble. He brushed the lime off the mans chest with his glove and noticed there were no burns on him.The man woke up at that point.

to continue, the man didn't speak .Dad offered him a sandwich which he took and ate.Dad said he would go get him a drink of water and left the room. When he returned the man was gone. Noone had seen him leave the room and he would have had to pass by the men in the outer room.

My father ,at that time, had been trying to purchase a piece of land to start farming. The lady who owned the property had refused on several occasions to sell. After this incident at the factory, she called dad had told him he could buy the property and should do it right away. She offered terms where he could have the land with the crop currently on it.He bought the land and with the proceeds of the crop, paid off the land. He always saw this as a blessing given by the man in the sugar room.

I had an interesting situation on my mission while serving in the west side of Louisville Kentucky which is almost a completely black neightborhood for many blocks and miles. One early afternoon while walking with my companion to an appointment I noticed an older white guy setting in a sedan (nothing out of the ordinary except the neighborhood). When we got to our appointment we were stoood up (go figure) and so we decided to walk back home and grab a bit to eat and knock a few doors on the way. On our return trip home we were walking on the other side of the street and this same older gentlemen was parked on the other side of the street now and beckoned to us. When I went up to him I was armed with all of my street contacting questions but before I could ask he said " I just want you two to know that I know who you are and that you are doing a great job". Of course we then proceeded to ask if he was LDS and if he went to church around here and he just kind of smiled and more or less shrugged off our questions just to reemphasize his point and said it agian, "I know who you two are and what you are doing, and you are doing a good job". We then said thanks and he drove off and my companion and I looked and each other and had to laugh thinking, "no it couldn't be". It was like we were being checked up on and luckily for us we were doing a great job on our missionary work and I constantly think back to that time of my mission as the point where I had actually "lost myself in the work". Upon thinking of that mans face I can't really recall it either. I just know he was a white man who was an older gentlemen probably about 72 years old. I know its kind of a boring story but thats my experience.

I don't think that's a boring story.

Thank you.

I guess my I am a hardheaded fellow at heart. I discount so many of the stories I hear about the three Nephites. Yet, at the same time I am unwilling to deny that we are surrounded by angels and stuf happens. It makes me think that there is a similarity of belief in the context of the old saying, "Work like everything depends on you and pray like everything depends upon the Lord". I am willing to thank our Father in Heaven for all that he blesses us with, for the small blessings to the big ones. There will be times when the angels are close and at other times they feel far away. However, we are protected far more than we know and we should learn to thank him during trials and during joys.
