ttribe Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I'm guessing she went running for the door because she didn't want to deal with Mormons who actually fight back...too bad.
The Mean Farmer Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Reasons I will never return to your site:1 - the suprisingly poor architecture of you information. It is more of a right justified blog than a website.2 - you want $50 for your book? Are you a professor teaching a class from it at a university?
smac97 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Well, here I am. I was invited on twitter by you. Let's see, you had never heard of me and characterized me as "Another bitter anti-mormon spewing hate! Gotta love you guys, you really have nothing better to do with your time..."Then you alluded to my Website as full of "garbage."Then you quoted Daniel Petersen when I asked you to look to see if other people who have read my books ever called me any such thing. (Just in case any of the rest of you would care to look at the reviews on latayne.com the one thing people say about me is that I am not bitter.)I feel so welcome. Gee, don't know why I don't want to stick around here. Latayne C Scottwww.latayne.comnovelmatters.blogspot.comI haven't read your book, but I am intrigued as to whether you've managed to write something worthwhile about "DNA researchâ??s withering implications for the Book of Mormon" without embarrassing yourself. The "DNA argument" is, I think, quickly going the way of such previous goodies as "The Book of Mormon is false because it includes a French word" and "The Book of Mormon is false because it gives a female name - 'Alma' - to a male prophet."-Smac
Bill “Papa” Lee Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Well, here I am. I was invited on twitter by you. Let's see, you had never heard of me and characterized me as "Another bitter anti-mormon spewing hate! Gotta love you guys, you really have nothing better to do with your time..."I have read the posts...no one said that. You must have the same persecution complex you guys like to ascribe to us. BTWâ?¦admit it, you hate usâ?¦man up! Or is your case Woman up! Reasons I will never return to your site:1 - the suprisingly poor architecture of you information. It is more of a right justified blog than a website.2 - you want $50 for your book? Are you a professor teaching a class from it at a university? You just did as I can see you are logged on.
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I'm guessing she went running for the door because she didn't want to deal with Mormons who actually fight back...too bad. Most likely.
ttribe Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 You just did as I can see you are logged on. I believe The Mean Farmer was "talking" to Latayne...not us.
oremites Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I have read the posts...no one said that. You must have the same persecution complex you guys like to ascribe to us.You'll notice that MatthewG has edited his post that started this thread. Typical Mormon attempt to cover up and whitewash history.

CQUIRK Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Well, guess you better wait around to see the new edition of The Mormon Mirage, which will be out in a month. Maybe I'll want to come back and discuss it with you then. If not, you'll probably understand, after this hearty welcome, why I won't.Ok, so basically in the new edition, you'll have the verbs, adverbs, and adjectives all changed to describe the old accusations in a better manner?Ever notice how a lot of anti-Mormon books always get republished in a new edition? Seriously.Praying, as always, for those of you who believe as I once fervently did.Yours and His,LatayneWhy don't you hang around and fight? Don't you want to attack online LDS apologetics at the source? We'll play nice if you do.-Praying, as always, for that who believes as I once fervently did.
dblagent007 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Latayne, let's be honest. Evangelical's arguments against Mormonism border on the ridiculous. Secular atheists present much more of a threat.
smalcolm51 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 From reading this line of discussion, I think I may be the only one here who has actually read anything by Latayne Scott. She's an excellent writer. I highly recommend her book The Red Cord of Hope. It's based on the story of Rahab from the book of Joshua. It's a very encouraging study of God's faithfulness and love.

Huh?? Really??? Lol this just keeps getting better.
MatthewG Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 You'll notice that MatthewG has edited his post that started this thread. Typical Mormon attempt to cover up and whitewash history. Typical Anti-mormon who doesn't have a clue what they're talking about. The OP is edited because the link didn't work. And if there is anything you THINK is missing you're welcome to go to TWITTER, search for LiberalMormon and read all our replies back and forth.

The Church Doctrine? or the Members that changed your position???
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Was it the Church? The Church Doctrine? or the Members that changed your position??? I am sensing a pattern with you. You obviously have had a negitive experiance or 2 with members. What is the purpose of the church?
revelation Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Anyone know this Anti-Mormon/Author?, How do you know this person is "Anti-Mormon"? When a person speaks against the teachings of a particular religion such as the LDS, that doesn't Necessarily make them ANTI Mormon. They could be doing all that they do BECAUSE they love Mormons and because they know Mormons have been decieved.

I never claims she was an anti. "When a person speaks against the teachings of a particular religion such as the LDS, that doesn't Necessarily mean that they aren't an ANTI Mormon"2 can play this game.

Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 For those who aren't "anti Mormon" it's no game.Opps. its late let me try this again."When a person speaks against the teachings of a particular religion such as the LDS, that doesn't Necessarily mean that they are not not an ANTI Mormon"
Bernard Gui Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 It appears we have the legitimate heir of Richard Abanes here,if not RA himself disguised as Ms Scott. So, I picked one of her thingies at random. Who wants the firstshot?BernardReason #32: Joseph Smithâ??s Imaginative AbilitiesPosted in 365 Reasons Why I Won't Return To Mormonism Smithâ??s wife Emma once said that she believed God dictated the Book of Mormon because her husband could hardly speak clearly nor compose a clearly-written letter. The speeches and writings we have of him contradict this assessment. In addition, others described Smith as articulate and descriptive from his youth on. Josephâ??s mother, Lucy Mack Smith, wrote that when he was eighteen years old he used to amuse his family by describing:â??. . .the ancient inhabitants of this continent, their dress, mode of travelling, and the animals upon which they rode; their cities, their buildings, with every particular; their mode of warfare; and also their religious worship. This he would do with as much ease, seemingly, as if he had spent his whole life with them.â? revelation Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Opps. its late let me try this again."When a person speaks against the teachings of a particular religion such as the LDS, that doesn't Necessarily mean that they are not not an ANTI Mormon"True enough and fair enough. But it isn't fair to judge everyone who speaks against the LDS teachings as "ANTI MORMON" because not everyone who speaks against Mormon teachings is ANTI Mormon.
RubyHunter Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 From MY understanding... If you speak out against something (A church?) It Does INDEED make you Anti-[insert thing here].But i don't know... I could have misunderstood the VERY simple definition of anti.

I could have misunderstood the VERY simple definition of anti.I think "anti" means "against" I know that ANTI as in antichrist means against christ.I don't believe that all people who don't agree with Mormon teachings are anti mormon, they are in reality: all for Mormons and that is why they speak up against Mormon teachings.
