However, I get the feeling most women in the church don’t agree with me so it is what it is:) I think that many don't understand why it's important. 3

Just my two cents, but we need to start training our young women now for the possibility of becoming bishops/Stake Presidents/GAs in the future. I think the mindset of the older generation would make it very difficult to pull from the more seasoned women, however, our young women could grow up with the possibility and it would not be a foreign concept to them. Once a few women prove it can be done, then it will just become the norm. I would also hope men and women leaders would always take into account the season of life people are in so a woman or man who is the primary caretaker of babies and young children would not be considered. 1

Agreed. Even if they are not the primary caretaker, I think it should still be considered, because raising kids should not be a 1-person job. My dad was bishop for 10 years, from when I was 2 years old up to 12 years old. He also had a demanding job. I rarely saw him during those important developmental years. My mom was left to raise 6 kids, basically on her own. She had her own depression and mental health issues that she was struggling with on top of that. The only problem with calling older and more seasoned members to local leadership callings is that it will make it difficult to find experienced leaders to call to GA positions who are not a million years old. You are right, Pogi. I think I was picturing my last bishop with a stay at home wife and six children. Somehow they made it work but maybe not optimal for a young family.
Peacefully Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 I would like to say one more thing. Just because I would like to see women on more of an equal footing when it comes to leadership roles in our church, I am not discounting the efforts of the men. I look at the men in our church, including my wonderful husband, and I am amazed at how much you take on.

Oh my that's sad, yes the church really needs to work on this
