Buy renters insurance. Fires in apartments are much more common than you would think. Other people’s mistakes can cause a lot of damage. Plus, it provides you liability insurance too. BYU is surrounded by apartments complexes for students on what amounts to at least two sides I would guess, mostly East and south…unless you are using dorm to mean off campus student housing as well. “In a previous case, Cazier was charged in Provo’s 4th District Court with operating a clandestine lab after he accidentally started a fire on Nov. 7, 2014, in his room — in an apartment that houses students across the street from the BYU campus” Edited February 22, 2022 by Calm
The Nehor Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 My favorite amateur scientist was the guy who decided to try to build a breeder nuclear reactor in his mom’s backyard. He didn’t do it but he did build a neutron source. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hahn 1
Buckeye Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 This is my sons unit at heritage. It’s on campus. Not his apartment but he had to evacuate the building Sunday along with everyone else. They got lucky. Reminds me of the fire around 20 years ago at a womens building in heritage. If I recall correctly, someone left a curling iron on a bed and went to church. When they came back the spirit of god like a fire was indeed burning … the whole building. 1
