Google Regine Pernoud, archivist and French medievalist.  She was awarded a PhD in medieval history from the Sorbonne and was curator of the French National Archives for a while, which houses primary documents from French history preserved by the government. She founded the Joan of Arc Center in Orleans, France.  Her books on St. Joan are based on her readings of the primary documents and are still in print.
