It uses the word "confidence" which is very different. It also uses the word assurance which means to be sure or certain of something. Words are intended to convey ideas so try to get the general idea there about what having faith is all about. 2 minutes ago, pogi said: Wait, you equate "not really being sure" with "certainty"? Who speaks that way? Judge: "Are you certain that you saw John kill James?" Witness: "Yes" Judge: "Then I find the defendant guilty" Witness: "Wait, why? I said I wasn't really sure..." I said it went from that point to various levels of certainty. Before you get to the point where you would say you feel certain you would say you're not really sure or certain about it, whatever it is, and then as you become more certain, having more faith, you would become more and more certain until you eventually got to the point where you would say you are absolutely certain about it, which in other words would be saying you know it. 2 minutes ago, pogi said: OK, I guess according to your totally inappropriate and absurd use of the word "certainty", I am certain in just about everything it seems... You have murdered that word. No you just misunderstood. But at least you seem to believe that what someone says should make sense before you start to believe it.

Correct. Those were the words of Austin J. Bowler. He was not speaking for me.

Your claim that you have made sense of the entire gospel means you need to drop what “we” in there. Either your gospel is so simple it is laughable or you are on such an advanced spiritual and intellectual level that you should expect translation shortly. If it is the latter I may have to rethink whether I want this whole spiritual progress thing. 1 hour ago, Ahab said: The universe as I see it in my perspective goes on in every direction forever. A ball has edges and therefore would not be infinite even if you kept going around it in circles forever. The ends/edges of the ball are what give it its shape. The universe as I see it has no shape. It goes on forever in every direction. Certainty of this kind is based in ignorance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect 1

Whether or not I have reached that point, the only point I would like to see you concede is that the gospel is perfectly understandable and reasonable and logical and even if someone doesn't perfectly understand it right now they can reach the point where they do. 32 minutes ago, The Nehor said: Certainty of this kind is based in ignorance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect This is just some more of your silliness.

Or any force you could not penetrate or get through or go around. I would question whether or not there is anything on the other side of what you perceive to be the universe if you see it in any limited sense, even if you could not get to whatever you might imagine is outside of it. It's enough for me if you can at least understand what I am trying to describe to you as a universe that goes on forever in every direction. No boundary anywhere you can''t get through or go around. Nothing to suggest it is in any way limited. if you kept going in any direction you started to go in you would occasionally run into planets and stars and other forms of matter and gravitational fields too that could possibly pull you or push you in different directions but suppose you could keep going in that same direction after altering your course to compensate without ever having to stop going in that direction because of some kind of boundary. Because there would never be a boundary like that in a universe that goes on forever in every direction, spatially speaking. Every place is in it and there is no limit to how big it is in every direction. Edited December 11, 2019 by Ahab
