I really need to work on being nice.  No question.  I start out nice with everyone unless they have already shown themselves to be...not nice.

Then some start nice, and then take off the sheep's clothing.

I find it VERY hard ten to be nice.

But Christ would still be nice and see them as children needing correction.  Unless he saw them as "vipers" and ""whited sepulchers"

But of course He is everybody's Judge and I am not so I guess I better work a lot more on being like you.  I could have done that and did not.

Coming from you, that's a real compliment.  Thanks!  I need to copy and paste your comments in a private conversation I am having with another member of the forum who is trying to hand me my head on a plate.  I'm thinking nice isn't always what's called for.  But maybe it is.  No, not really.  I graciously apologized to a family member for breathing once, and was told "SEE!!!  My life IS a mess, and it's all your fault!"  That was it.  No more Mr. Nice Guy.  I stand by my statement to Erik "Notwithstanding your kind comment to the contrary, pleasant is as pleasant does. There are others on this forum who would not agree I am pleasant." But Mark, I do appreciate your kind words!

Meerkat is way nicer than you, mfbukowski.  But you own a vintage, air-cooled VW, so honestly--I'm kinda torn between the two of you.

Well hey-- I can see I need to build my street creds here.  This is my wife and me in our 1967 VW van.  We drove to Mexico on our honeymoon in 1973.  Drove as far South as Mexico City.  Saw several ruins.  Heard the legend of Quetzalcoatl.  Had several adventures.  Returned up the Gulf of Mexico. Visited Temple Square in SLC on the way home.  Learned the Mormons believed Quezocoatl was actually Jesus Christ, who told the people in the Old World "16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." John 10:16.

They said the Book of Mormon was a record of the ancient people who lived on the American continent, the prophets who lived among them, and Christ's visit to the Americas immediately following His resurrection.  When we returned to Bellingham, we attended Church, read and prayed about the Book of Mormon, and found out for ourselves that what they were saying was true.  In two weeks, we celebrate our 45th anniversary.  45 glorious years.  We have lived the life, and our faith has been confirmed every step of the way.  We sold the van and my wife's yellow 1965 VW convertible and ended up with a 1971 Datsun 510 wagon when our first child came along.  So, can't say I own a vintage VW.  But have owned several, starting with a 1953 split window that I bought in Germany in 1969.

Great story! We must be about the same age. Some Mormon scholars now debate if Quezocoatl was Jesus of the BOM, but you know how it is with these history guys. ;)

No souls. ;)

Right!  By the way, I think you have the edge there with Erik if you actually own a vintage VW.  Mine is but a distant memory. 😢
